32 Years In A Row!

With last night's win Xavier has insured themselves of a 32nd consecutive season of .500 or better in conference play.

I don't care what league (Midwestern City, MCC, A-10, Big East) that is a fairly impressive feat. So much so that I am fairly certain no one else in D1 can make that claim.

that's remarkable.

Kansas seems like maybe closest. 25 in a row. Were it not for a 6-8 season in Roy Williams 1st year at Kansas, they would be at 31 this year.

That's awesome. I love those kinds of somewhat "obscure" stats and records.

Creighton has had a .500 or better season in conference play every year since the 1995-96 season. One big stat that Creighton touts (and gets to continue at least for this year) is that Creighton has at least 10 conference wins in every season now for 18 consecutive seasons. That's another one that almost nobody in D1 can claim, and again shows consistency that is impressive regardless of what conference you have played in.

Very impressive. Doesn't matter which conference, shows a winning culture.

VCU is at 13 seasons of .500 Conference ball or above, and 12 straight seasons of above .500 Conference ball. We only have 19 consecutive seasons until we catchup!

UCLA finished with a .500 or better conference record every season from 1948-49 (John Wooden's first year as HC) to 2002-2003 (Steve Lavin's last year as HC). Incidentally, they also finished with an overall losing record in 02-03, which was their first since 1947-48.

Impressive feat. It is tough to win year in and year out in any conference. Laws of averages says that at some point you will just have a down year/ rebuilding year. I'm sure some of those seasons were just barely over but still it takes a lot to win a college basketball game and anyone can be beaten on any given day. Its quite and accomplishment and X fans should be proud.

CU had to win the last conference season game on senior night three times in four years to keep the streak intact: 07-08 (a 111-110 double overtime game against Bradley), 09-10 and 10-11.

If I'm not mistaken not only have they finished above .500 each of those years, each "half" of conference play all those years was 5-4 or better.

Someone should invite all the Xavier athletic directors and basketball coaches to give a lecture to SJ about developing a consistent winning culture. My entire life I've known who Xavier was because they always won. Even as a mid major they were more known than some major conference teams. It just goes to show the power of winning. It's also important to note that not only do they win, but they consistently make deep runs in the tourney. Their recruiting has also been top notch.

Xavier fans should be very thankful.
