The southern schools are the strong ones for FB (FSU, Clemson, VT, Miami) and the northern schools are more basketball schools (Duke, UNC, Syr, Pitt). Now there are certainly exceptions to that rule, but I will be really surprised if FSU ever becomes a champ in hoops or a dormat in FB, and I seriously doubt it will ever be the other way around for Syracuse. That's why a move to a conference for FB reasons must be tearing a guy like Boeheim up. He's king of the world at Syr because of the hoops, but when the other half of your conference only cares about FB your fiefdom is not as grand.
Didn't FSU win the ACC like 2-3 years ago? And Miami last year?
I think if anything, it'd be easier for one of the football schools to win in basketball than vice versa. If one of those football schools just gets lucky in recruiting- they can do very well in basketball. But it takes a lot more to win in football(which hurts Syracuse a lot speaking to your point). Like I said on the other thread, think if it wasn't for the Olympics in 2016, Boeheim would already be gone. Wouldn't be shocked if 2016 is his final year for everything.
