Clemson and VT look like the only consistent winners in the ACC.
TCU was coming into the Big East, Boise state was coming and UCF joined. UCF was in the top 25 last year.

Uh, what about FSU? Jimbo Fisher is 45-10 since taking over for Bobby Bowden 4 seasons ago(does it feel that long ago?)

I think Big East had those 2 years mid 00's that were something else- WV, Rutgers, and Louisville- but outside of that- back earlier than that it was just Miami and Va Tech, and then later it was just Pitt, WV, and Louisville. ACC probably deeper(yuck saying that). Miami seems like they are on the road back.

I think when looking at the ACC you have a dividing line in both basketball and football. The southern schools are the strong ones for FB (FSU, Clemson, VT, Miami) and the northern schools are more basketball schools (Duke, UNC, Syr, Pitt). Now there are certainly exceptions to that rule, but I will be really surprised if FSU ever becomes a champ in hoops or a dormat in FB, and I seriously doubt it will ever be the other way around for Syracuse. That's why a move to a conference for FB reasons must be tearing a guy like Boeheim up. He's king of the world at Syr because of the hoops, but when the other half of your conference only cares about FB your fiefdom is not as grand.

Didn't FSU win the ACC like 2-3 years ago? And Miami last year?

I think if anything, it'd be easier for one of the football schools to win in basketball than vice versa. If one of those football schools just gets lucky in recruiting- they can do very well in basketball. But it takes a lot more to win in football(which hurts Syracuse a lot speaking to your point). Like I said on the other thread, think if it wasn't for the Olympics in 2016, Boeheim would already be gone. Wouldn't be shocked if 2016 is his final year for everything.
