Carnesecca-Thompson Sweater Game, 29 Years This Week.

This week on the 27th marks the 29th anniversary of the Sweater Game. Louie Carnesecca wore a really ridiculous looking sweater every game during St John's 19-game winning streak in their 1985 run, including a close win at Georgetown. It was a funny storyline in a great season, especially cuz Lou has such a great personality and is a great story teller.
Anyway, in the huge rematch (#1 St John's vs #2 Georgetown...!) with the Hoyas at MSG in late February, maybe during pre-game introductions or when he was about to shake hands with Lou, John Thompson took off his jacket and revealed that he was wearing the same exact sweater. Great theater... it was like a brown sweater with a red V-pattern across the neck.
It would be awesome if this week (and every Feb 27th week in the future) all Big East head coaches wore this replica sweater in their games... at least during introductions, then then can remove the thing. Carnesecca still goes to most of the Johnnies' games and I think it would be a great tribute to a great guy. I can't picture Jay Wright, for one, wearing it, but that would make it even funnier.
