Providence Fans, can Friars go 2-2 next 4?

Daunting schedule at Xavier, at Georgetown, DePaul at Home and Villanova at Home. Currently the Friars are sitting at 16-7. What do you think, can you go 2-2 through these next four? Besides the obvious one, which other are you confident one can you win? 18-9 still gives you life. 17-10 puts you on the bubble, in my opinion, with three of your last four on the road.

You would kind of think they would need to win one of Xavier or Georgetown. You worry if they lose to both of them, the DePaul game becmoes such a must win, they lose that game, and that knocks them out if they lose to Nova.

I think that Providence will split their final 8 games, ending the season at 20-11, 10-8, leaving them on the bubble. They will need a win in the BE tournament to get a bid and that will depend on match ups which are almost impossible to determine at this point.

I think 4-4 is awfully optimistic at this point. They have a real tough schedule left- one of the toughest left quite frankly with 5 away games and a home game with Villanova. To have any shot at 4-4 they have to split this weekend.

I understand PC coach has complained about Big east schedule, can anyone explain or post a link or am I mistaken. And does the schedule impact this 4 game stretch!?

No, I've never heard Cooley complain about the schedule.

If anyone can complain about scheduling, it's us

Cuse, G'Town, Nova, Xavier, Wisconsin all right off the bat.

Yes, a couple weeks ago Cooley made a comment about the quick turn around games. There have been a lot of Saturday-Monday, Thursday-Saturday type games. He just said it doesn't give alot of time to prepare for the second opponent- but its league wide so everyone deals with it.

But I don't see all the doom and gloom with PC right now. Why does everyone say they have a tough schedule remaining? We play in the same league. Everyone has played each other atleast once by now and everyone has to play each other again. The tough schedule stuff is not legit. EACH game is going to be hard, there are no gimmies for anyone. I like PC's chances to go .500 the rest of the way. They have Depaul and Butler which should be 2 wins. And then all they have to do is win 2 out of the 6 remaining. Again, each game will be difficult- but I wouldn't say there is any particular game on that schedule that they cannot win. Creighton on the road, senior night, revenge game is as tough as they come; but the Nova game is at home so they have a shot.

Right now, with the performance to date I do not see Butler, Depaul, Seton Hall, MQ, making the tourny unless they win the conference tournament. X and PC are trying to survive, SJ is coming together but needs to make up ground, GT is quality wins but they also need to catch up. I am hoping PC and X distinguish themselves as 3,4..and St. Johns wins the tourny to get 5 teams into madness.

I think the tough schedule comments for PC are more the locations. PC has 5/8 games left on the road- and 1 of the 3 home games is with Nova. That's as tough of a schedule as you can get in this format.

I don't think that 4-4 is overly optimistic at all. This is a good Friar team; they have proven that. I expect them to win against DePaul, Butler, Marquette! and Seton Hall despite the fact that a couple of them are on the road. These should be close games, so I wouldn't be surprised if they lost one of them. However, the Georgetown and Xavier games should also be close and PC is as capable of pulling off an upset as being the victim of one. I even give them a shot against Villanova.
