Thurs 1/30 BE Game Thread (1 Game, PC-MU).

One game on the BE schedule on Thursday nite:
Providence at Marquette, 7pm, FS1.
A reminder to all bats in the Greater Milwaukee area to get to the Bradley Center early to make sure there is room in the rafters. I don't remember when the Friars last won at Marquette, if ever. So for that reason among many, this game freaks me out. Plus the bat last year was pretty messed up.
Marquette just lost in OT to Villanova last Saturday, after previously winning at Georgetown. Following the PC game, MU heads to Madison Square Garden for a Super Bowl weekend doubleheader party vs St John's. Of minor note to me is that the first NCAA tourney I followed was in 1977, the yeah "mah-KETT" won it all. Also, as a kid back then, like today, Marquette was a perennial power. The "Warriors" spent an amazing 166 weeks in the Top 20 in the 1970's. Combined with PC's 71 weeks ranked in the 70's, the two teams combined for 237 weeks if my addition is correct. Also of interest is that Buddy Cianci got his JD from Marquette.
Providence is on a 5 game winning streak, with 4 of those coming at home. The "iron men", aka "Cooley and the Gang", follow up this game with one at DePaul less than 48 hours later. The over-under on Cotton's minutes is probably 40... take the over in case we see OT.
This would be a huge win for either team, but fortunately it wouldn't be a bad loss either way.
