One game on the BE schedule on Thursday nite:

Providence at Marquette, 7pm, FS1.

A reminder to all bats in the Greater Milwaukee area to get to the Bradley Center early to make sure there is room in the rafters. I don't remember when the Friars last won at Marquette, if ever. So for that reason among many, this game freaks me out. Plus the bat last year was pretty messed up.

Marquette just lost in OT to Villanova last Saturday, after previously winning at Georgetown. Following the PC game, MU heads to Madison Square Garden for a Super Bowl weekend doubleheader party vs St John's. Of minor note to me is that the first NCAA tourney I followed was in 1977, the yeah "mah-KETT" won it all. Also, as a kid back then, like today, Marquette was a perennial power. The "Warriors" spent an amazing 166 weeks in the Top 20 in the 1970's. Combined with PC's 71 weeks ranked in the 70's, the two teams combined for 237 weeks if my addition is correct. Also of interest is that Buddy Cianci got his JD from Marquette.

Providence is on a 5 game winning streak, with 4 of those coming at home. The "iron men", aka "Cooley and the Gang", follow up this game with one at DePaul less than 48 hours later. The over-under on Cotton's minutes is probably 40... take the over in case we see OT.

This would be a huge win for either team, but fortunately it wouldn't be a bad loss either way.

If PC can win at Marquette this year, I'm a believer.

Yeah, if PC can win some BE road games, then they will be a serious ncaa contender.

Win this game I think PC proves that is not on a "bubble" but that they are solid in the tourney.

I think PC is the real deal. Just a good road win or two and they will have a solid spot in the tournament. Tonight is a good opportunity for that. Let's see if PC can give the Big East 4 teams that have solid footing for a tourny berth.

Good luck tonight, PC. May the best team win. I'll be in the student section looking like I just drank the entire Miller brewery (If the game goes poorly I may take on lakefront and 2nd street breweries too).

I'm a believer but it is hard for me to see PC winning tonight. I actually think it is a decent match up for PC BUT....

I'm scared about PC's front court getting into foul trouble trying to deal with the Gardner.

PC hasn't won in Milwaukee and Buzz has abused PC in the past.

PC's shooting has been much better of late but that is at home. Not sure that translates on the road.

Still, I'm hopeful. I think a win for PC tonight puts them is GREAT shape for an at large bid.

I read on the PC board:

PC is 1-10 vs. Marquette since Marquette joined the Big East.

Since 1982, PC is 3-11 vs. Marquette (wins: '83, '97 NCAA Tournament, '07).

PC is 4-12 all time vs. Marquette.
