Xavier 8 seed vs 9 VCU- then 1 Arizona- San Diego- West region
Villanova 2 seed vs 15 Charleston Southern- then UCLA/Harvard 2nd round- Raleigh- West Region
Creighton 6 seed vs 11 Boise St/Dayton PIG winner- then 3 Oklahoma St- San Antonio- South region
Georgetown 10 seed vs 7 Pittsburgh- then 2 Ohio St- Buffalo- East Region

Butler the last of the 2nd 4 out(so 8th out right now)

I'm assuming this takes into account last nights Georgetown game which is good.

I know we were talking a few days ago about the bubble. Looking at this bracketology, from 12 seed down- there are 21 auto bids and only 1 set of PIG opponents. So that would mean if RPI was right, if you aren't in the top 47, you are in some jeopardy(depending on how many of those 21 were in the top 68).

I hate the 8/9 seed. But in this case, I could live with it if UA is our Round 2 opponent.

I think I'd want to play against any other 9 seed but VCU. Even if you win, they would take a lot out of you with their Havoc. Meanwhile Arizona gets a 16 seed cupcake.

Those seeds look pretty good for the BE teams judging on what has happened so far. Villanova definitely looks like a 2-3 seed currently (figuring a 2 seed is probably the ceiling for Nova unless they go 16-2 or better in conference). CU at a 6 seed seems about right - plenty of room to move up (at least splitting with Nova and X, and avoiding losses to teams like DePaul and Seton Hall at home later in the season would really help improve CU's seed). Same goes for X, lots of potential to move up in seeding. The question is with the Hoyas, before last night I was guessing they would be on the bubble (lots of season to go I know, just hypothetically if the season ended today), but now I would say they would be in a play in game or first four out.

Lots of ball still to be played though, but looking solid for 4 bids at this point, maybe 5 if someone goes on a big streak outside of these four named teams (Butler, Marquette, St John's, PC).

the 8-9 game is far and away the least desirable. I would take being a 10-11 any day over an 8 or 9.

Playing a 7 or 6 in the first round, and then a 2 or 3 in the second, much , much easier path to the sweet 16.

to me, that's the good thing about this- Georgetown still a 10 even after last night and not even one of the last 4 byes...

IN some ways, it may be better for Creighton to remain a 6 rather than go up to a 4/5. Yeah an easier 2nd round game, but then get 1 seed rather than 2 seed in the regional sf game.

I understand your point but I also think playing VCU is the best chance at a first round W (not that I wouldn't feel confident against the others). I don't think VCU is all that good this year and our guards have handled pressure fairly well this year (minus 2nd half against Iowa without Semaj).

Not that any of this argument really matters because who knows if we end up as an 8 seed and I think it's even less likely VCU ends up with a 9.

lol, I think you are probably right on both accounts. Xavier probably goes up to a 6-7 I think and VCU probably as well quite frankly!

  There are Creighton fans that still haven't forgiven Sean Miller for cancelling the Xavier-Creighton series. Go kick his ass!
