Brandon Austin is gone for good. He is looking into other schools to transfer to. Fellow suspended freshman, Rodney Bullock, will be back and continues to practice with the team.

This has been some ride for the Friars. Ricky Ledo never plays a minute. Kris Dunn injured in consecutive seasons. Brandon Austin now gone for good. Talk about a program that has been snake bit lately. . .

Hi Bill (fellow New England Sports Fan),

I'm just going to ride out the 2014 season with low expectations, and maybe the Friars will shock us. I still get to watch fantastic basketball vs great teams, McDermott, Butler, Semaj, Sampson, Josh Smith, Villanova, Buzz Williams, Edwin, even DePaul...

...and even with all the Friar disasters and curses, at a minimum, the drama makes for an entertaining sports page... I mean, Ivan Lendl-types or the St Louis Baseball Cardinals tend to put me to sleep, even when they win...

...meanwhile, as a New England sports fan, I've had the pleasure and a lifetime of experience to witness entertaining disasters and I'll just roll with this latest Friar drama... so, for example:

- Drew Bledsoe diving into a mosh pit mid-season is entertaining...
- Rick Pitino screaming at the Boston press is entertaining...
- Pitino trading rookie Chauncey Billups for peanuts after about 3 weeks is entertaining...
- Roughing the passer vs Ken Stabler is entertaining...
- the Red Sox collapse in 2003 is entertaining...
- Parcells bailing for the Jets after a Super Bowl loss is entertaining...
- getting waxed by 30 at Villanova can be entertaining...
- the Bruins having 7 men on the ice vs Montreal is entertaining...
- the Patriots drafting OL Eugene Chung in the first round is entertaining...
- the Bill Buckner game is entertaining...
- Barnes blowing out his knee is entertaining...
- Chuck Fairbanks bailing for Colorado just before a playoff game is entertaining...
- Pitino bailing for the Knicks after signing a 5 year extension with us is entertaining...
- Oil Can Boyd is entertaining...
- Losing to the 85 Bears 46-10 is entertaining...
- Bucky Dent hitting a 3-run homer is entertaining...

Based on this, our Friar troubles are par for the course... "may we live in interesting times...!"

I just shuddered at the fact that a New England sports fan complained about their teams. Celtics championships galore, only city where all four major teams won a championship in a decade, sox win 3 since 04, Pats win 3 in 2000's. Give me a break... Most spoiled fanbase in America

You know, that is true, in the last 10 years we have been spoiled... but before the Pats in 2001, the most recent champs were the 86 Celtics, 72 Bruins, 1918 Red Sox and never for the Patriots... with really big disaster losses every few years...

End of story there I think.

Was in Chicago last Christmas('12) and they had a t-shirt that was great. Had some guys sitting at a bar. Bears fan with a '85 jersey. Bulls fan with a '98 jersey. White Sox with a '05 jersey. Blackhawks fan with a '10 jersey. Then on the other side of the bar a Cubs fan with a '08 jersey crying their eyes out. It was great.....

Don't forget about all those hockey national championships over the years by BC, Bu, Maine, and Harvard. And Yale. The UConn basketball championships in 1999, 2004, and 2011. And then there are the women's championships . . .
