Jay Bilas and his soap box

The last five years the success has gotten to his head. He spends more time ranting about flaws in the college game now than he does commenting on the game he is broadcasting. 90% of the comments he has about a specific game are related to improper officiating. Then he loves to go on unrelated tangents. His rants against the rpi (yes, we all know it is not perfect, but it is good enough for what it does), the payment of players, etc... Last year's big east tournament was unbearable due to this guy talking about how much of a lesser conference the big east was than the acc and how he hoped the acc would steal madison square garden (actually, it was more than just a hope, he presented it as an inevitable fact).
I am really glad we got away from espn. I have serious espn fatigue. Sports center sucks. Bilas has lost it. Guys like andy katz hate the catholic big east schools.
Bilas really misses his old partner, raff. Raff was enough of a buffer between bilas' unfiltered rants and actual basketball commentary that bilas was more in control and great at what he did. Now he is just a mess.
