Tickets for St. John's

I have a family wedding out in the New York area that I have to go to in February. It coincides with the weekend that Creighton plays St. John's at MSG. I was hoping to take in that game and get a look at the Garden before the BIG EAST tourney in March. My preliminary poking around, though, is suggesting that tickets for that game are extremely high priced -- like pushing $100 a ticket? Is that typical? Am I completely missing some way to get a reasonably priced ticket for a Sunday night regular season college game at MSG? I've never seen single game tickets for a basic regular season game anywhere near that high!

Any of y'all SJU fans have any ideas for me?

That is unusually high. You might be looking at the lower bowl area for that ticketing price. You should be able to get tix for much less than that. If you go the The Garden website there are pleanty of tix available for 43.00. As you get closer you can probably get them through stub hub as well.

Is 43 bucks for the cheapest possible ticket typical or normal for the Big East, or for St. John's? As a Creighton fan, that's more than face value for a seat on our team's bench, I think. I was hoping for something more reasonable, figuring that game wouldn't draw a huge crowd or anything. I will probably just swing the 43 if necessary, but like I said, I figured you could get something reasonably cheap with a place as big as that.

Edit: And thanks for the response.

I think 43 may be the lowest priced ticket at the Garden - at least what they are showing on their website. The Creighton game is not going to come close to selling out, so if you wait a bit you can probably get something cheaper through stub hub.

The garden site had been saying upper level for $50 for Nova game are not available for a while now. I find it hard to believe despite our ranking that it's sold out already up there but maybe I'm wrong?

That sounds way too high. The automatic setting when buying tix online is usually best seats available and that may be why it's so high. If that's the case, change that setting in the search. The going rate is usually about $55 with taxes and fees for the low end. You can have someone get you tickets straight from the SJ box office in Queens where it's about $40 but no fees. For students MSG games are $10-15 so I'm lucky. I would say have a student buy you student tix so you only pay $10, but I believe they check for the student ID at the gate once you get there. Cheapest way is via the box office on campus usually unless there's a special offer.

Been trying with that setting for a month and nothing available. I'm wondering if they are holding out til the game gets closer or stubhub and other ticket vendors bought in bulk and haven't put on the market yet? Will try my connections up there. Appreciate the help

Wait 'till gamenight then go and get one from a scalper. Make sure you print out a copy of the seating arena to see where each seat will be.

Is scalping legal in outside the arena in New York? And is it a safe bet that somebody will have tickets for sale before these games?

Thanks for the tips.
