I'm a Xavier fan, so it's tough for me to say good things about the Flyers. That being said knocking of Gonzaga is a big win for Dayton. Maybe UD can make some noise this year. I am sorry that X and Dayton couldn't play this year, hopefully they get the series renewed real soon

If we expand, I want SLU and Dayton. Wins like this definitely help Dayton's case.

It's a good win by a very good Dayton team. Nice job.

I kind of feel like the Flyers are a Big East D-League team and if they do well enough they could get promoted. Or maybe we could employ some type of relegation like they do in soccer - best 2 teams from the A10 get to move up to the BigEast for a couple of years and we send a couple down for seasoning.

Good win for Dayton.

Dayton plays Baylor (ranked 18th)
Saint Louis plays Wisconsin (ranked 10th)

This is one of the dumbest comments I have read on this board and its written by from an administrator. I am sure the best way to create stability in a "new" big east is to have a constant shuffling of teams. Playing against lower competition does nothing to season a school, they will take a hit in recruiting. God forbid a coach leaves or their star player (Creighton?) and they have to go through a rebuilding process, looks like they are no longer welcome members. Plus there are all the legal ramifications to consider (scheduling, entrance/exit fees, wait times, etc.). All this would do is show a lack of solidarity within the Big East and would scream mid-major.

Dayton is making its case to be added in expansion. Their proximity to Xavier may be a negative to some, but it could be very appealing to East Coast schools who are conscious of controlling travel costs. A trip to Ohio would become a twofer. Their attendance is already an enormous positive.
Next up: Baylor.

Two surprise teams this year so far are Dayton and UMass. They are playing much better than I thought they would. I chuckle when people talk about expansion and use the Flavor of the Month theme. You must look long term as to a best fit, not what happened in last year's tourney, or for gosh sakes, last night's games. VCU has lost two games, so now they are out of the expansion conversation? And now Dayton is making a statement? Come on, either they are a good fit or they aren't. Three weeks of 2013 basketball doesn't change that.

Dayton is surprising, UMass less so. I agree that expansion talk on these boards can be somewhat fickle, but what else are we going to talk about after a crappy night of games? Dayton got a good win, and have always been on the "watch list" as stated by the presidents. That's reason enough for me to pay some attention.
