6 bids would be an awesome statement. Great early season pub for the BE. Now let's go win some OOC's.

4 seed Marq
6 seed Hoyas & CU
9 seed Nova
11 seed SJU
12 seed Prov

The opening Bracketology is out and while there will be movement in, out and around the bracket, here is where the Big East starts from day 1:

#4 Marquette
#6 Georgetown
#6 Creighton
#9 Villanova
#11 St. John's
#12 Providence (play-in)

That's six invites to start. Know who else has six? ACC.

And in the NIT we have the Butler Bulldogs! If only we weren't CBI bound!

just looking at matchups:
Marquette vs 13 New Mexico St, then 5 Memphis/12 San Diego St
St John's vs 6 UVa, then 3 Michigan
Villanova vs 8 Tennessee, then 1 Michigan St
Georgetown vs 11 Iowa St, then 3 Syracuse
Providence vs 12 Alabama, then 5 New Mexico, then 4 VCU
Creighton vs 11 BYU, then 3 Ohio St

not an easy road to hoe for any of those teams, except for Marquette- and even there, who knows what Memphis will be end of the year.

I do like 2 of the candidates for expansion making tourney with great chances to advance
St Louis vs 10 Stanford, then 2 Oklahoma St
VCU vs 13 Wright St, then 5 New Mexico/12 Alabama/Providence

This makes a lot more sense to me than what I've been seeing elsewhere with only 4 teams going.

Kind of like I said with others that had 1-2 teams on the outside looking in - at this point last 8 in/first 8 out- are pretty much interchangeable for me. It's always such a thin line between making/missing the tourney. 1 injury could make the difference...

6 bids would be a huge statement for the league. I think that's the ideal outcome this season, and it's nice to see the media predicting it.
