I don't think anyone at Georgetown or even Josh himself expected this news. Frankly, I don't understand why they gave him an extra year when he played 2+ at UCLA. I'm glad because in the end I think this is good for the Big East but the NCAA just keeps making me scratch my head.

Nothing against the kid or Goergetown, but the NCAA is the most arbitrary group of idiots out there.

My guess is they used a 2 prong strategy
Step 1) UCLA is a dysfunctional abusive environment like Mike Rice at Rutgers so he had to get away so he should be allowed to play right away.
Step 2) Obesity is like a disease, so last year was like an injury red shirt year for Josh so the 6 games shouldn't count.
No inside information, but that's the best I could come up with.

This is a win-win for the Big East. He was going to be eligible for conference play so it's helpful for the Hoyas to get him back earlier and maybe impact some of the OOC games too.
