Big East vs. Power Leagues Discussion

In years past I have kept track of the Big East Hoops records against the other power conference teams ( I did it this year for Men's and Women's Soccer). Considering the fact that we have charted our course free and clear of football, I think this year's comparisons should be interesting. Most outlets are referring to the Power 7 in hoops. They are: Big East, Big Ten, Big XII, Pac-12, SEC, ACC and The American. So this is the group I will be comparing as the season goes on. There are currently 27 scheduled games between the Big East and the other leagues - there will be more since this only takes into account the first game of any tournys we are in. For example, St. John's plays Penn State in the semi finals of the Barclays. That game is listed on their schedule. After that they will play either Georgia Tech or Ole Miss, but that is not on the schedule since the opponent is unknown. So I figure we will have at least thirty non-conference games against the power leagues - and we'll keep track of them all.
The first ones start right away. On November 8, Boston College is at Providence, Oregon plays Georgetown in South Korea, and St. John's plays Wisconsin in South Dakota. So we will have half the globe covered. Hey Administrator - can I get a sticky?

Good idea and good place to keep it all in one spot. It will be interesting and vital that the league starts off in year 1 strong against the others. The original perception will get shaped this year.

Exactly. Go Big East!

OK Big East - the time has come. We are less than a week away from the games that matter and we start off with some big out of conference games. So the up coming schedule through November 10 has the following OOC games against power league teams:
11/8: Boston College at Providence
St. John's vs. Wisconsin in South Dakota
Georgetown vs. Oregon in South Korea
So we face off against the ACC, Big Ten and Pac 12 on day one. Go Big East!

I would say add in A10 and MWC. ESPN has included them with the other 7. You look at the country, and those 9 conferences may very well have every at large bid this year- maybe WCC can get a 2nd bid but that's about it.
Would add 7 games to the count(2 being Nova's games with St Joe's and La Salle in the Big 5)-6 A10 and 1 MWC

I agree with the OP on this one.
A-10 and MWC aren't good basketball leagues. Carry on.

They may only have 3-4 NCAA teams each. The 2 conferences only had what 10 teams last year in the tourney. I know Butler and Temple have left but still 8 between the two of them returning this year.

The problem is, the OP is comparing this to the leagues the Big East wants to be in play with. The football leagues with the big names in them.
You don't want to be in a comparison with leagues under you.

The problem is though that the A10 and MWC have shown that in several years, both are ahead of some of the football leagues. Last year MWC was ahead of Big 12 and SEC. A10 was barely behind the SEC. 2 years ago, A10 and MWC were both ahead of the Pac 12.
