The "Super Secret" Scrimmages

Postby wildjays » Tue Sep 24, 2013 1:08 am

I was curious if anyone knows who Big East teams are playing in the secret non-disclosed scrimmages that a lot of teams seem to play these days. Butler and St. John's appear to be the only ones playing two exhibitions this season. Marquette and Georgetown appear to not be playing any exhibitions and opting for two scrimmages. The other six teams appear to have one exhibition and one scrimmage.

It is too bad that they play these scrimmages with decent schools but can't turn around and schedule that regular season non-conference game. But I won't digress.

Over the summer hidden in an Omaha World-Herald article about Nebraska of all things, it was mentioned Iowa State was doing a scrimmage with Creighton this year. Any other known scrimmages out there? Jeff Goodman usually puts out a list, but wondered how "secret" these things are these days.

I think Creighton is playing Iowa or Iowa State.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

Georgetown has scrimmaged against North Carolina the past 2 years. Haven't read anything about this year though.

Xavier has scrimmaged West Virginia the last two years. Haven't heard anything about this year yet, after all it is "Super Secret". Going to a Meet the Teams tonight at Cintas for season ticket holders so will do some snooping there.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I forgot to mention, there is a Library page on White & Blue Review that has current and future non-conference schedules including the scrimmages and exhibitions. Feel free to mention anything that is missing, especially in future seasons.

Farther down it has all of the compiled TV games listed as well to see them all in one place.

And yes, I'll be taking down the MVC information soon on that page...

I believe Xavier will be heading up to Moron Mountain to scrimmage the Monstars this year. After hearing everyone talk about how physical the Big east is coach Mack thought it was the proper way to prepare the team.
