Besides that fact, and the fact it was prime time, it's a good thing for our future contract with whomever decides to pick up the Big East. We still have a few years for the so-called "bottom" teams to get to the tourney and make some national noise. Once that happens you are going to have a 10-team behemoth representing the biggestyeah and baddest markets in College Hoops.

yeah the game being on CBS was big. FS1 really almost 5 years in is yet to really establish itself as much of a threat to ESPN at all. The fact that the Big East probably forced the BET off of FS1 and onto Big Fox was very telling.

One small thing, it wasn't prime time. The game was at 4pm et.

I think the really interesting thing to watch not this year but next year will be what happens with the sub licensed part of the Big East(the 6 year deal runs out after next season with CBS/CBSSN). I think there's a very real shot you see ESPN get some of that- in exchange probably for Big 12 basketball part going to fox.. I think we could easily see something where CBSSN gets about 15 conference games, CBS gets what they've been getting, ESPN gets about 20-25 games, and then Fox gets the rest.

So Stever, in tuning into the Flyers-Bonnies game last night I cam across Big East action on CBSSN. What is the sub deal and why wouldn't that game have aired on FS1?

Fox sold off I think it's between 20-30 games a year to CBS/CBSSN. It was a 6 year deal- this year is year 5 of that deal. That'll expire after next season then.

This deal is why for instance the Nova/Butler game was on CBS and not Fox on Saturday.

Stever,
Why do you think ESPN is going to sell some Big 12 basketball to FS1?

Not a FS1 thing, but FOX get TNF for 5 years. I would hope FS1 can get some pre pre game show or something.

Old news, but I don't see it posted. Mark Silverman, chief of BTN, keeps his current responsibilities, gets to be the Jamie Horowitz replacement at Fox Sports, FS1 and FS2, will move to LA and work under Eric Shanks.

For example, here's Minutes of Live Sports Event Viewing in Calendar 2017:

FOX: 256.3 billion
ESPN: 219.9
CBS: 208.4
NBC: 154.2
ABC: 89.7
FS1: 57.4
NBCSN: 43.6
ESPN2: 41.8

And then for the three companies that typically combine for ~70-75% of national sports viewing we can combine their broadcast and primary cable networks:
FOX+FS1: 313.7 billion minutes
ABC+ESPN: 309.6
NBC+NBCSN: 197.8

I would think this would be more of a turn to a bit more of a hard news focus and a small shift away from embrace debate. Not fully, but I think we're going to see a difference.
