Not so fast Kemosabe...many of those fired are longtime WWLites. Many are toxic and one should be careful not to touch. Fox can cherry pick talent, but some would be WWL Sleepers and bound to sabotage at a moments notice. Best to let'em collect unemployment for 12 weeks.

Exp #1: I would NOT have hired Dougie Gottlieb under ANY circumstances, none. ;)

for those that think FS1 is going so great:

very interesting tweet:
Austin Karp‏ @AustinKarp · May 1
Nielsen figures show ESPN actually gained 42,000 TV homes in May (compared to April). FS1 lost 80K. NBCSN gained 593K. ESPN2 lost 70K

oh and this nugget....
ESPN primetime viewership +9% in April vs. April 2016. Total-day (24-hour basis) viewership -2%. FS1 primetime in April -24%. Total-day -15%

was there anything primetime in '16 that wasn't in '17- that would impact FS1's ratings so much?

Oh boy. The FS1 hater is back! Did you not get laid off by ESPN. Anyways to keep it real, April always sucks for FS1. Did Easter falling in April hurt things. Truckrace that aired in 16 on FS1, aired on FOX this past April.

surprised not to see this posted by anyone

https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-a-gawk ... 1494187629

Tweets on Jason twitter account are all over the place from "right on" to "FS1 employees were fired to pay you Jason" responses. Interesting piece and I have to admit some of the garbage on ESPN is nauseating, simply too much air time to fill. Disney reports after the bell today and given the recent ESPN layoffs as a bell weather of sorts I'm expecting a miss.

Another article on the struggles of ESPN, today in the NY Times. It's becoming mainstream thinking that ESPN is swirling in the toilet bowl. Part of ESPN's appeal is that everyone is watching it, and that it's the place to be... once this facade is smashed then not sure they can recover... the giant ESPN stegasaurus may be stuck in a tar pit. Never thought things would be moving so quickly.

The problem with this is that for sports, it is still the place to watch most sports. NBA, MLB, College Football, College Basketball, NFL for Monday Night Football.

Until ESPN's portfolio is shrunk, ESPN isn't going anywhere. And it's going to take a long time for that to happen.
