The BC game IS part of the Wooden Classic as a non-bracketed game. The exempt tourneys you can play up to 4 games. In the bracketed tournaments that is only 3 games. The teams in the tournament have the option to schedule one additional game as long as it is played within a certain time before or after the bracketed games. In a lot of cases for these games to get scheduled it is agreed on by the teams to be the start of a H/H series.

Marquette and Arizona St. Did that a couple years ago as a part of the Wooden and I think DePaul and George Washington did that as part of one of their tourneys a couple years ago.

If this wasn't set up as the non-bracketed game of the Wooden, Providence wouldn't have had an open game to play this one.

Maui Bracket is out...
St Johns plays Vanderbilt 1st round...
then either Indiana or Wake Forest

other half of bracket is Kansas, Chaminade, UCLA, and UNLV.

A pretty tough 1st game for St John's.

Vanderbilt is supposed to be pretty improved and Wake I think will be better. I guess they're shooting for an Indiana Kansas final.

Need to win one of Vanderbilt or Wake Forest or they'll end up playing Chaminade in the the 7th place game.

yep. Totally what they are shooting for....

And yes, playing Chaminade in the 7th place game seems very possible, if not likely.

so looking at all the tournaments- by what kind of "seed" it feels like our teams got-
Butler- Puerto Rico- would say 2/3 seed.
Creighton- MGM- 1 seed
DePaul- Paradise Jam- 4/5 seed
Georgetown- 2K Sports- 3 seed
Marquette- Legends- 4 seed
PC- Wooden- 3 seed
Seton Hall- Charleston- 4 seed
St John's- Maui- 6 seed
Villanova- NIT- 1 seed
Xavier- Orlando- 3 seed

So Creighton and Nova feel like favorites in their tournaments- but none of the other 8 seem like they are really projected to make that much noise.

I don't want to be "THAT GUY," but I find St. John's/Vanderbilt insanely unappealing. Hopefully the Johnnies can win so they'll get a shot at a good opponent in IU.

My hunch is that it's the throwaway midnight et game on that Monday.

Vandy supposed to be pretty good- like top 2-3 in the SEC. Going to be a real challenge for a St John's team playing their 1st real game away from home.

Butler plays Missouri St- other part of their bracket has Minnesota/Temple

Missouri State fan here. Interesting matchup, Butler will be favored. The Bears started off strong last year but had major personnel issues down the stretch and faded fast. Coach is on the hot seat, season ticket sales dropping, etc. Weird connection between Missouri State and Butler: Brandon Miller played for the Bears under Steve Alford as a freshman in 1998-99 during their Sweet 16 run, then after the season when Alford left for Iowa, transferred to Butler.

I don't know how much Missouri St really started off strong......

They were 8-6 at one point. 2 of those 8 wins were vs Avila and Alaska Anchorage. Only Oral Roberts finished the season in the Ken Pom top 200.

It's the kind of game where if Butler struggles, it's a big issue for Butler.

The 2nd round game will be a good test for Butler- with either of the teams they could play.

I'd argue Hoyas are the 2 seed with Wisconsin losing so much off of last year's team.
