There is no way Jim Delany has Tom Crean and Indiana play at Marquette.

In 2016 Maryland will be at Georgetown.

I will happily take Illinois at PC. It has been impossible for Cooley to get Football 5 teams to visit The Dunk.

I pulled this from the PC Board:

While on the surface it looks slightly disappointing, the Top 5 OOC games for PC in the last 9 years at home (selectively leaving out year 10 because it includes #1 Florida and #5 Memphis):

#47 - Alabama ('10)
#49 - Boston College ('06)
#56 - URI ('14)
#60 - Florida St. ('07)
#63 - URI ('08)

Like I said, Illinois at The Dunk is a big get for the Friars.

Not a bad slate of games for the Gavit's 1st year,
Could Have been better, could Have been worse.
I luz the IU v Creighton match up. IU should be ranked...Jays always start strong - i see a Jays upset and a Creighton "welcome back to the Top 25" party in Bloomington.

Creighton 2-1 versus Indiana All-time. Ferrell gets shut down and FTs win it in a close game.

I'm pretty sure that the schools on the Big Ten side ultimately have veto power if they strongly object to a matchup. The Maryland-Georgetown games wouldn't be occurring if both of those schools didn't want it to happen. Note that Maryland-Georgetown is the one geographic pairing where both schools legitimately have equal leverage (i.e. if this challenge didn't exist, they have equal negotiating power if they were negotiating a non-conference game on their own). In most of the other geographic pairings like Illinois-DePaul and Ohio State-Xavier, the Big Ten school has much more leverage and would likely never play on the road against those teams. (Getting a home game without having to return it, which is possible in this challenge, would be a different matter.) Villanova somewhat has more leverage over Penn State, but generally speaking, the Big Ten schools would have the upperhand in non-conference scheduling negotiations.

The only surprise to me is that Penn State is playing DePaul. I would have thought that they would have gone out of their way to ensure that PSU would play an eastern team (even if it wasn't Villanova).

Georgetown curb stomped Maryland by like 30 points in their last meeting 6 years ago in the Old Spice Classic. That was a fun game to watch. But I believe the Twerps are an early pre season Top 5 team this upcoming year. Should be a good game.

I think part of Penn St is DePaul. They had to play someone. Of the 6 teams from Big Ten not in this- Northwestern they already were playing- so they're out. Minnesota playing in Puerto Rico, so they are out. DePaul themselves playing in Paradise Jam starting that Friday, so Michigan St out(due to them playing on Tuesday night in Champions classic). So that left really for DePaul Ohio St, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Penn St.

Also part of this is the eastern schools. Georgetown/Maryland was a no brainer. Think very possible Jay didn't want to play Penn St. Seton Hall was out. St John's/Rutgers pretty easy. PC they wanted to get a good opponent for.

saw this from ESPN:
A source confirmed to ESPN that the Hoyas and Terrapins are the only matchup that is guaranteed to be a home-and-home in the series, with the first game at Maryland on a day to be determined between Nov. 17 and Nov. 20. The return game in the fall of 2016 will be at Georgetown's home at the Verizon Center.
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... ast-series

So
Georgetown @ Maryland
Xavier @ Michigan
Creighton @ Indiana

Rutgers @ St John's
Illinois @ Providence
Nebraska @ Villanova
Penn St @ DePaul
Iowa @ Marquette

1 thing that is really interesting is Big East gets 5 home games, Big Ten only 3. I wonder if one of the Big East home games was agreed to shift to either the Big Ten Network or ESPN.

Or it might be possible that Fox got 5 games in exchange for ESPN arguably getting the two best matchups on paper. Plus, Fox gets a guaranteed return game between Georgetown and Maryland next year. Not a bad trade if that was the deal.

the DePaul/Penn St game will be at Penn St.

I think you could easily make the case that the Big Ten gets the 3 best matchups on paper.

Maybe so, but thats a double-edged sword. That just means we get the best opportunities RPI/Resume wise.
