Lavinwood wrote:VCU is good but overrated. They are a borderline top 25 team, not a top 10 team. FSU blasted them. Dayton is an ugly program. The biggest reason I've heard for wanting them to come is their big fan base…who cares? They don't ever make lots of noise. Most people don't even know who they are. They are not a name brand school. I say keep it at 10 unless we can get UConn to house their FB program elsewhere then I'd take them and maybe the same with Cincy and Memphis. I think it would make sense for the traditional basketball powers of the AAC i.e. Memphis, Cincy, UConn to put their football in another conference and join us for hoops. The ACC can't take all of them. So at least 1 of those teams will be left behind.

I think VCU is overrated at 10, but they're definitely a top 25 team. Since they made the final 4- they've gone 4-6 vs top 25 teams. Not great- but look at BE records vs top 25 in those seasons
Butler 3-5
Creighton 1-2
DePaul 0-12
Georgetown 12-6
Marquette 9-9
Providence 3-9
Seton Hall 2-11
St John's 3-18
Nova 4-9
Xavier 3-3
Really only Georgetown and Marquette way better.
There's no chance that any of those AAC schools will be in the Big East. None. They won't move down their program to the MAC/CUSA- and AAC won't allow them to be football only(neither would CUSA for sure).

So they'd rather play Houston, Tulane, UCF, SMU in basketball? I'm not so sure. Louisville and Rutgers are only there for this year. Once they leave they are a clear step below the Big East basketball wise. UConn basketball outside of the Big East or ACC is just not the same. Their football is dreadful. It's not out of the realm of possibilities.
