Toledo was up 5 with under 3 minutes, had a bad turnover, had some missed free throws, and were barely hanging on. Notre Dame was horrible, and kept bricking shots.
The Irish have a big guy who shoots threes with a weird hitch in his shot, which actually led (with 3 minutes left?) to a shot clock violation (removing 3 points) cuz it takes an extra second for him to release the ball.
Anyway, with 10 seconds left, up 3, Toledo missed the 2nd of 2 free throws. With 6 seconds left, still up 3, Toledo correctly fouled an Irishman for a 1-and-1. Guy missed the first shot, Notre Dame scrambled for the rebound, missed a 2-point bunny, and got the offensive board again with 2 seconds... then whipped it to a teammate for a straight-away three point attempt, and the ball somehow got lodged, stuck between the rim and backboard... cuz of the angle it seems like this would've been impossible.
This wedging happened with 0.8 seconds remaining. On such a sucky shot, the ball would've bounced off and the clock would've expired. However, the dead ball wedge, and the possession arrow pointing towards Notre Dame, gave the the Irish a chance for another 3, which the guy hit to tie and send the game to OT.
I saw just the 1st minute of OT, enough to see Toledo clank a couple of missed shots, and then switched to "Catastrophe" cuz my wife had patiently watched the end of regulation and she was hoping to finish Season One.
