DePaul is tied for 2nd most F5 games in the conference. I guess most of the scheduling was done prior to Leitao coming on board, but I wonder if they try to scale that back for next season.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Butler is 3-1 in the Crossroads Classic. I want to believe that would help them (lol). I know Purdue is loaded, but Butler its a great team. I'm more doubtful of Villanova tbh

But imagine what this would do for perception if Butler and Villanova both win. that would be huge for the Big East

OK day for the Big East. Wins by Xavier and Butler soften the losses by Nova, Creighton and DePaul.

ACC: 4-4
SEC: 7-3
B1G: 10-7
PAC: 4-3
XII: 0-2

Total: 25-19

The rest of the season...

Tuesday:
St. John's vs. South Carolina
Xavier vs. Wake Forrest

Even if we lose both - which we likely wind up with a split - we finish up with a winning record against the F5. Let's go for the sweep!

We end the Football Five non-conference portion of the schedule with a split. The numbers were very good for the BEast.

ACC: 5-4
SEC: 7-4
B1G: 10-7
PAC: 4-3
XII: 0-2

Total: 26-20

We had winning records against every conference except the Big XII (I should say Oklahoma as that was the only Big XII team that scheduled a Big East squad). Due to the Gavitt Games, the Big Ten played the most games against us and we had a comfortable margin of victory over both them and the SEC. Xavier's road win at Wake broke the tie in the season series and we just beat out the PAC-12 as well. All and all a very impressive job.

Merry Christmas all. Good luck (sort of) in conference play and we will see you at the Garden.

I'm going from memory here, but I believe the BE has finished with a winning record against the P5 each of the last three years. Even year one, when the sports writers seemed determined to portray the BE as damaged goods, I think we finished above .500. I think we finished that season with winning records versus the Pac 12, SEC and ACC, with a .500 record against the Big 10 and a losing record only against the Big 12 - I think Villanova lost to Oklahoma. Those records may have shifted a bit at tourney time, as I believe X and Providence fell to ACC teams. In any case, we have three years of results demonstrating the BE is every bit as good or better than the P5. The BE has finished at or near 75% non- conference winning percentage since it started. I think only the Big 12 has enjoyed a better rate over that span.

Given that the Big12 and BEAST both have 10 members, plus top conference RPIs and a lot of depth in men's Bball, a full non-conference "challenge" slate seems like a no-brainer to me -- just made for TV ratings heaven on a weekend in December. You could even designate the 5 "home" teams from each conference, and wait to assign visiting teams to those sites 7 or 10 days out, thus maximizing the number of really even match-ups. But I've not seen the idea of a Big12-BEAST challenge series floated anywhere, and in fact we seem to play fewer games every year against the Big12 than against the other Football 5 conferences. I wonder why.

The Big XII does a challenge with the SEC i believe. I personally prefer the Pac-12 because it brings the Big East to newer markets in generally big cities. Other than Texas/TCU, the Big XII are in cities like Waco, Lawrence, Ames, Lubbock, Norman, Manhattan etc.....not exactly big markets or hotbed recruiting grounds. I hope we can finally get a Pac-12 challenge going, especially since i live on the left coast... :D .
