Agree with Bill on this one. Kentucky has had non-starters projected as late lottery picks recently. I don't think any kids are concerned about a "lack of exposure" if they go to Kentucky.

Who wouldn't at least give them a look and meet Calipari? I think it's obvious that he is a benchwarmer if he goes there and he knows it. Even if he got playing time it wouldn't be much. There are people who turn down Ivy's to attend SUNY Stony Brook. Sometimes it just makes more sense financially and location wise. So it wouldn't be surprising if he turned down UK. Too far, little chance of real impact, and will be behind other guards like Ulis. You could make the case that he can go 1 and done anywhere if he thinks he's that good. SJ can offer him the PT to get there and prove himself. It doesn't matter what school you go to once you make the draft. You just have to get there. So it really doesn't matter draft wise if he goes to SJ or UK. UK can't offer a bunch of other things like home and PT. If you are behind a guy it's much harder to get drafted with much less proven and less exposure.

Get one thing straight, this kid is not a "bench warmer" on any team in the country. FAR from it.

Briscoe was at SJ game today, says it went "great" and said there were a good amount of fans who made lots of noise. Even the security guards were talking about his recruitment. Still very possible he pops for UK or UConn at the last second (won't doubt it the way our luck has gone), but you would have to think that we are the front runner at the moment if he visited us just days before his decision, right? Logic would suggest that there's no reason to visit so close to your announcement unless you were coming here, but then again logic does not work in the recruiting business. I can see Cal getting grimy at the last second offering something he can't refuse like a stipend or car or something.

If Lavin gets him though it will be big. By no means should we be done recruiting though…even if we get him we still need at least Sampson/Diallo and a few more solid to great recruits. It would be such a crazy situation if we get Briscoe but no other studs commit and we spend next season with 1 great player and a ton walk ons and backups. Fingers crossed that we not only get him but that he leads to a domino effect.
