Given this board, has so few people that post in the first place, it's only a little mismanagement away from the few just leaving and the site melting away in irrelevance.

But once again, Georgetown at some point needs to be an asset to the league: at some point your program just is what your results say it is.

I have no idea what you're talking about. PM me.

No it doesn't, but the Big East needs two of their top tier "brand" teams to be good/great each year to keep perception up. I'd consider top tier: Villanova, SJU, Georgetown, Marquette (maybe X). Every year some of those teams will be down, but that's why the league needs at least two to be good.

The B1G can take the Illini and Wisky being bad or average, same with the PAC12 and ASU and the ACC with the Wolfpack. Georgetown is a pillar of this league, which like it or not is still going to have to earn the right (as far as reputation) to be considered Top 5 conference since it's separation. The good thing is it's only the first game, plenty of season left. I don't think this loss makes the league mid major like, but with every hit the league takes it hurts its perception - especially without having ESPN to back it.

Hmmm. This from a Creighton guy, even.

Let us hope we don't see parallels in Omaha...land of Let it Fly, Home of the 3 pter. ;)

Agree with you Gopher. Trouble is Hoyas next three are Maryland, Wisconsin, and either Duke/VCU. Ugly loss today that simply shouldn't have happened and at some point administration is going to need to take a long look in the mirror about the direction of the program.

I don't know if Thompson is untouchable or not, but those fans who have seen a slow deterioration need to start sounding off soon or this might slide into the abyss. How about running an offense tailored to the guys in the program? the princeton things works for Princeton, but maybe GT has better players and should try something.. um more 21st century.

Ahh yes. Possible rooms at the inn, Top floor even. Without the 'missed' traveling call, it would have been over sooner (1st ot). Young teams have growing pains...Hoyas are no different. They will work it out...over time. The poor start will be a tough hole (the Abyss) to climb out of with a young team. Which other BE team(s) are able and willing to step up?

Prov?, Creighton?, Seton Hall? Ahh yes - we shall see. ;)

Can we drop Georgetown and pick up George Washington or VCU?

Ron Thompson on the boardcast said, why doesn't Georgetown press. The both times they did, they got a turnover that fits their speed and length.

Georgetown always has a reputation for struggling out of conference. The northeastern loss a couple years ago for example.

That loss really sucks. I think most were hoping georgetown would be the team to join nova and one one team like say butler in the polls for much of the year. This loss is devastating as georgetown as such a tough upcoming schedule.

Good news is maybe it can be xavier and butler who make themselves mainstays in the polls this year.

I wasn't asking the question, more saying big name teams lose, but it's only game one. Georgetown has three games ahead of them that they can make a name for themselves.
