So $5666 is $108 per week.

$3900 is $75 per week

$2600 is $50 per week

$1300 is $25 per week

$100 per week while the athletes are on campus is a lot of coin because they have no expenses but is what I would think is a fair figure, $75 minimum

$25 a week? That's not paying them.

This is in part what I wrote on page 1 of this thread. Not sure if the $'s will be disbursed on a calendar or academic year but the analysis is still valid and I most certainly believe kids will make decisions based on $'s if it's $108 per week vs $25. Maybe not so much the case $100 vs $80.

It's based off of 39 weeks I think. So the gap will be a lot higher than you even have here.
5000- 128 per week
1500- 38 per week

Yeah an extra 350-400 per month would be a huge deal for kids.

From the local paper today.

Rasmussen said Creighton plans to cover cost of attendance beginning with the next school year. He said the additional cost to the university will be about $300,000 to $400,000 based on the 90-some student-athletes on scholarship in 14 sports.

The cost for some of the other Big East schools could be substantially higher.

“In our conference, there are a lot of commonalities,” Rasmussen said. “But there are a lot of differences, too. Georgetown has 26, 27 sports. Providence has men’s and women’s ice hockey. A lot of the schools play lacrosse.

“There is a general sense that we will require (cost of attendance) in men’s and women’s basketball and then let each school decide how they will handle the rest. Or it could be required for all sports.”

Thanks Turner,

This is the first solid piece of information I have seen from a Big East school official.

just looking....
300,000/99(worst case scenario)- 3030 per year
400,000/90(best case scenario)- 4444 per year

so worst case is right in the middle, and best case is I'd guess in the 90th ish percentile from what we've seen. Not too bad.

To add to the above post --- the article in the Omaha paper clearly states that not every athlete will get a full stipend. The example in the story is of a softball player who is on 1/2 scholarship -- she will receive 1/2 of the "regular" stipend.

Just wondering why it's assumed that women's basketball should get full cost stipend? No one attends those games so why are they included? In the Big East I'd rather see men's soccer or women's volleyball to be honest.

Men's soccer wouldn't be able to due to Title 9.

just looking-
DePaul's womens basketball averaged 2776 per game this year.
Creighton's womens volleyball team(won conference at 16-2) averaged only 1283 per game

So that's why women's basketball will get it.

While I don't know the specifics, I am sure it is related to Title IX

Our commissioner loves women's basketball as well.
