Many high school kids will schedule a meeting just to meet Mullin. Would you ?

If he is on PlayStation 2015, recruits will know him. If not, they will have no idea who he is.

There have already been a few articles with quotes from recruits saying they would be very interested in SJU if Mullin is the coach. If anything, it gets him in the door with top level recruits.

Hey smoke weed all off season if you want that's your business, but it's dumb and selfish to do it during the season. Smoking weed is not with out side effects to your lungs and it's not something an athlete should be doing to their body if they're a serious competitor.

As I said in his suspension thread, marijuana is a PED for a basketball player as much as beer is in softball. NCAA should change their policies and proactively get in line with the changing attitudes about smoking the ganj.

But yeah, I agree that he should have waited until the offseason.

As for Chris Mullin, I think I still have his Dream Team McDonalds cup somewhere at my parents house, sitting with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Those things were boss.

Come to Chicago, Indy, Texas, Florida, Cali, etc. Recruits won't have any idea who he is. In NY, hopefully he is remembered, but he is long gone to the rest of the country for the under 18 group.

If Chris Mullin can get the right assistants, this is a home run hire. There are already a few articles w/quotes from prospects saying they would be interested in SJU if Mullin becomes the coach. The dude is a Hall of Famer and he played on the Dream Team w/Jordan and Magic. Kids will know who he is....Rumored assistants include "Slice" Rohrssen from Kentucky, Abdelmassih from Iowa State and Richardson from Arizona, all guys with NYC ties and big time recruiters.

Doesn't matter. Recruiting is about getting to the high school and AAU coaches. Closing the deal is about selling the parents, especially the moms. Mullin shouldn't have problems with any of that. In fact, he should be a plus with all that.

The old St. John's teams were always built with NY area kids. Losing them has been the problem. If Mullin has a presence in NY and can recruit those kids, that should be enough.

I think the key's going to be, can New York basketball get back to where it used to be.
I mean, look at ESPN's ratings by state-
4 top 100 recruits
3 other 4 star recruits
1 3 star recruit

until that changes, it's going to be a challenge for St John's.
