Being reported around twitter that Texas and Shaka Smart are in the process of finalizing a deal.

Good there are a couple VCU recruits I wouldn't mind poaching should Shaka leave.

Might want to hold up, not certain Shaka's leaving at all - by a long shot.

If you're going to waste your time around here pretending to be a fan of the Big East, which Dayton fans don't have to worry about becoming, you should consider not being so obvious. Your problem is that Dayton is located in, well Dayton. Xavier carries a Cincinnati address. Even then, Norwood is making more progress than Dayton, so you probably shouldn't go down that road either.

Poor idiot. You probably think that Archie Miller is going to stay at UDump forever. Archie knows that he can't get it done at UD long term. He's had to rely on taking risks on criminals and rapists. All that got him this year was a short bench, and barely getting into the NCAA Tournament by playing in a weak A10 Conference. You shouldn't be taking shots at any other program's coaching situation, especially Xavier's situation, since we are very well situated with Chris now. UD has an ambitious Miller coaching for it. UD's program has a very weak resume and certainly nothing that is comparable to Xavier's resume at the time Sean left for Arizona. It's not a matter of IF with Archie, it's a matter of WHEN, and that is coming soon.

This is probably the worst post I have ever read on here. Look, I'm not a Dayton fan, but when I read posts like this it really makes me want to root against Xavier. I love the Big East and basketball only conferences including the A10, but honestly I'm starting to see why there is a lot of venom towards Xavier. Anytime anything is posted on here that Xavier fans don't agree with, they claim it is a UD fan when in reality a lot of UD fans I know are so happy with the success of the mens' and womens' program the past two years that the idea of joining the Big East is now out of sight and out of mind; unless you read message boards and base an entire fan base on what about 50 people put on the Internet.

Your comment about criminals and rapists is completely out of line and hopefully admin notices. I've met Archie and Chris Mack a few times and both seem to be classy guys that do not tolerate that type of behavior. In case you have lived under a rock, Dayton played the whole year with only 6 kids because Archie kicked two kids off early in the year. I think Xavier had an issue with Reynolds that was covered up? Didn't Xavier have "ganstas" in their game with UC a few years back where Mick Cronin totally outclassed Chris Mack? Didn't Xavier kids rip off water fountains and vandalize Butler locker rooms? Before you want to criticize other programs, make sure yours is pristine.

We need to see how VCU does if Smart leaves. If they respond like Butler or X did when losing coaches then they are a legit candidate for expansion. If they fall off then they were the product of a good coach. If the latter does happen and VCU is no longer an option that makes a stronger case for Dayton. Especially if SLU can't right their ship.

A Dayton troll dove in here with a snide comment about Xavier fan reaction to Chris Mack and yet another stupid comment about "Norwood."

All bets were off at that point. He shouldn't even be here. He and his UD program became fair game at that point.

There isn't a lot of venom posted about Xavier on this board. In fact, I've never been in a conference where the mutual respect between the programs has been so high. There are things we may not agree with around here as Xavier fans from time to time, but WE OBVIOUSLY DO NOT PIN THEM ON DAYTON IF DAYTON HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. It's very clear that the tool in question is a UD fan, because none of the other posters on this board are ignorant enough to place Xavier in Norwood or attempt to use that as some kind of slam. UD fans play that card, as weak as it is.

My comment about criminals and a rapist is factual. There are two former UD players now under arrest and anyone who knows anything about the Scarecrow knows what went on with him. Archie played with a short bench because of the questionable recruiting choices he made; it wasn't some kind of noble achievement. And, as I understand it, Archie didn't exactly take quick action with those two idiots. That situation apparently festered for a while.

So, your reason for posting is that you don't like that Xavier fans open up on UD "Anytime anything is posted on here that Xavier fans don't agree with"? You do understand that this is A BIG EAST MESSAGE BOARD, right? Any fan of any program is welcome to post here, including UD fans, so long as they offer constructive dialogue. Fans of programs outside this conference should consider that the tolerance level for trolling and flaming here isn't too high, especially in some cases. Like this one. I can assure you that the A10 board had no use for Xavier fans as we were leaving the A10 and I can't imagine that's changed.

Otherwise, you aren't getting the dynamic that's going on here. I don't hate UD. As far as I'm concerned, UD is a program that was left behind, but a program whose fans mostly hate Xavier and is jealous of it, while being envious of its place in the BE. It's the Big East by the way, not the New Big East.

You asked me what my post had to do with the list? Not much, but what did your friend's post have to do with the list? Nothing; his intent was to take a shot at X. If UD fans want to come here of all places to take shots at X, they're going to receive some easy return fire. UDPRIDE simply represents a stockpile of funny ammunition.

Koch money kicking in? I don't know much about WSU with respect to their arena. I'm sure they sell out constantly, but don't know about their seat licensing, suites, etc. I also suspect the Valley's TV contract doesn't contribute that much. NCAA Units? Sure, but $3+mm for a non-P5 conference is a big number.

BTW, each BE team makes more per year on TV rights than the entire Valley. Don't laugh, a decade or so ago the Valley had to pay Fox for airtime!

The NCAA units are nothing to scoff at right now though. Just Wichita alone has 5+2+3 units the last 3 years- so the MVC will be getting 2.5 million just from Wichita's appearances the next 3 years.

The conference next year will be getting looks like 21 units. Then 18 and then 17. So that's 56 units the next 3 years already earned(so bare minimum of 58). That's 14.5 million dollars at least the next 3 years. Do they share those equally, or does the team that earned it get a larger percentage?

One thing about the TV- the MVC contract is up after next season. Would be interesting to see if they get a decent boost there with how good not just Wichita and Northern Iowa did this year- but also Loyola(CBI national champion), and Evansville(playing tonight for the CIT national championship).
