We lost our top 10 caliber juggernauts i.e. Cuse, L'Ville, UConn, Pitt, etc. But we may have a lot of 15-25 ranked teams. Creighton can easily be in that range, G'Town will definitely be, Marquette will definitely be, Nova almost certainly will, Providence has a chance, SJ has a chance, Xavier has a chance, etc. etc. So while we lost our powerhouses, we still have very good teams. It's a testament to how stacked the old Big East was. This league will be fine. I expect 4-5 ranked teams each year. If you hear anyone saying the Big East is a mid major, just laugh at them because they have no idea what they are talking about.
Georgetown is one of 4 teams to reach the top 10 of the Polls every year for the last 7 years. Just saying. (Kansas, Duke, and UNC are the only others)

You're saying you made the top 10 in 2009? When you were 16-15, 7-11 in BE play... even if you made it can you really say you belonged there that year?

stever20 wrote:yes, we made it up to #8 I think was the highest there...
you could say the same about North Carolina 2009-10 season. 16-16 5-11.

Yup only lost 1 game before conference season (to Tennessee in the semis of the Old Spice) began and opened BE play with a dominating win at #2 Uconn.
Started the year at #22, beat #16 Memphis, Maryland, and Wichita St OOC. Made it to #9 in January. Then everything fell apart. Mostly chemistry issues as that team didn't lack for talent.
The point is you stated we lost our teams that have the potential to be top 10 caliber when Georgetown has been top 10 caliber consistently more so than the teams you listed even.

I tried to tell someone that.

Agreed but actually I don't think the BE can't afford to play at the current level of the SEC, Pac or the B12 going forward. Those conferences can get away with mediocre bball b/c of cfb & tradition. The BE has to be in the top 2 or 3 bball conferences to maintain its credibility as a premier bball first league.
