Look who came out from under the bed at 11:35pm suddenly puffing his chest out. Past your bedtime junior.

You gotta have something better than that. If my handle isn’t a tell enough, 1994 would be my birth year. But let’s stay on topic. I was told I would see you were right at this time tonight, so I waited until tonight. I do not see, though.

Providence having a historic year. Locked in an NCAA bid last night against the Johnies.

Now its all about NCAA seeding for them.

I find it hilarious that Providence "luck" story has become a life of its own nationally, mainly driven by salty BE fans

Who would've thought that John Fanta would be calling a game with Bill Raftery?

Does McDermott have Hurley's number?

they really have made it a national story.

KP Luck Rating is no more than unexplained error in the KenPom model. If Providence keeps this going and goes deep in the NCAA KenPom is gonna have to tweak his entire algorithm to better account for these type of teams.

Pretty much this. For example, Providence and Seton Hall have very similar adjusted efficiency margins, with SHU actually just above PC in Kenpom rankings. Based on this, KenPom's model would predict roughly the same results for them - however the results have been anything but. The "luck" rating basically just shows by how much a team has outperformed or underperformed its predicted results based on its adjusted efficiency. It would lead you to believe that the only difference between PC and SHU is that PC has been luckier. In reality, it's a testament to Providence's ability to close out close games. What are they, something like 8-0 in games decided by 2 possessions (6 pts) or less? KP calls it luck because it can't be explained by an efficiency model. Most people call it finishing games. SHU on the other hand is 4-6 in those games.

Like I've said- I really can't wait until 2/19 when they do that sweet 16 reveal. Providence(and Wisconsin actually) are fascinating teams.

Wisconsin- 3 KPI/2 SOR but then 21 NET/26 BPI/26 KP/23 Sag
Providence- 5 KPI/3 SOR but then 29 NET/40 BPI/48 KP/37 Sag

Wisconsin has folks seeding them in bracketology from 1 all the way to 6 seed
Providence has from 2 all the way to 7.

I think those 2 if they keep on these next 2 will be so fascinating. Don't know that we've ever had teams quite as pronounced as those 2. ever.

Lappas thoughts for a new rule during a review. The 10 guys should stand at mid court with a ref. It's unfair that St. John's has zero timeouts. The review gives St. John's a free timeout.

Sorry, i don't need a ref baby sitting at mid court. How about stop reviewing plays.

Huh? IMO, Julian Champagne is the great neutralizer, regardless of the competition. There is no one in this league that has a ready 30 pt game in his back pocket. Posh can easily take the Bynum factor away....BUT Y'all gotta do something with Durham. He reamed us a good one!

he's struggled now his last 3 games- scoring only 23 points on 9-36 shooting and only 4 free throw attempts. You just know he's going to explode at some point.

what exactly is wrong with him? Last 4 games only 31 points on 11-47 shooting and still only 4 free throw attempts. With KP offensive ratings of 65,71,77, and 62 now last night.
