Posh only the third player to win Freshman of the year and defensive player of the year. The other two are Ewing and Iverson.

Agreed. They should have coaches do a ballot system where they vote for their top 3. 3 pts for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. That would probably produce a single winner.

In what world is Mamu player of the year? I guess winning doesn't matter anymore...

I haven’t posted in a while but this ridiculous three way tie is embarrassing. First of all, why are the coaches voting? They have biases and can tilt a vote in their players favor in they want.

3 votes for each Collin G, Mamu, and JRE. 1 vote each for Bouknight and Zegarowski.

Who did Willard vote for? I’ll bet a dollar it wasn’t either of the Nova guys. If Wright decided he wanted his guys to have increased odds, he could vote for Bouk.

If coaches are going to vote let’s have their votes be public and require each to submit 1st, 2nd, 3rd place selections.

The problem with this logic is that the coaches don't know who anyone else voted for, so they don't know what votes would increase their guy's chances. It's not like any of them are clear throwaway votes. Though if they share this board's opinion of Mamu, maybe Wright, McDermott and Hurley all voted for him as a throwaway in an effort to help their own guys.

I'll also call your Willard bet - knowing what I do about Willard, I think he voted for Gillespie.

Shared awards among 2 is okay. 3 is dumb.

And the announcement tweet (now deleted) was hella disrespectful...

I'm guessing Mac prob voted for Bouk because didn't he score like 40 on the Jays in Storrs? Think Jay might have voted for Z who had his way with us in Omaha. The interesting ask is did any coach vote for a player (either POY or on the All Conf teams) that they didn't face? Steele and Laetto didn't face Gillespie or JRE. Doubt either got those 2 votes. And I wonder if Jay gave Scruggs and/or Free votes for All-league. I'm guessing he did, but who knows. Just a weird year.

Now who's front runner for POY 2022?
