Apparently, Williams is an even bigger pickup for the Hoyas now that we’re a mid major. Compared to nd basketball.

Holy, what a nightmare of a board. Notre Dame is kind of falling off a cliff recently. Maybe they're starting to experience some of the geographic problems that UConn did. They're a pretty significant outlier in the ACC.

I’m an Irish fb fan, but i don’t root for their other sports. They are in the exact place they want to be for fb (bowl games) and the acc is a great place for their other sports. Better than the BE in most sports except for soccer, i’d think, and that’s a push at best for us

Dude Notre Dame would be a huge get. Bigger than UCON. I wonder now that UCONN has returned if it gives Notre Dame any ideas, I mean they are THE Catholic school. What would Val do? I would let them join in a heartbeat screw the round robin.

I agree, I just mean strictly for basketball. Maybe that distance takes a toll. Who knows.

It sure does. Look at what Notre Dame did with their hockey program. They joined the arguably top hockey league in Hockey East, where they were a geographical outlier, only to bolt 4 years later to a lesser, but more geographically friendly Big Ten. I wouldn't be surprised if the non-FB sports head to the Big Ten or Big East within the next 10 years, especially if their MBB program continues its slide.

Even after Delaney, I think the B1G will always be a friend of the Big East throughout college sports realignment, our footprints are identical, so almost all Big East fans root for one of their football teams, plus mostly Notre Dame, so the Big East does make a lot more sense than Tobacco Road, the South, and all the dark history. Pretty strange ND, Cuse, BC, all plays is a conference that was so bigoted against the North, Catholics, abolitionists, etc.

If they cared about that, they wouldn’t have sent hockey to the big ten, d. Many of those schools tried to kill Irish football a century ago. Plus, the ACC schools are mostly ‘good’, new south schools with great academics. While the ND faculty would no doubt love a relationship with the big ten academic side of things, I’m sure the acc meets their needs from an institutional perspective. For the most part. They aren’t the sec...

It would have been interesting if UConn had stuck with us in 2013 (I know, I know, UConn peeps). From what I understand, ND was really concerned about women’s b-ball, baseball and a couple other sports where the acc was clearly superior to the C7 plus potential replacements. UConn might have made it a more difficult decision, but I suspect ND would still make the same choice.

I seriously doubt this. Maybe just Creighton and Xavier, and Marquette to a lesser degree? I'd imagine football starts and ends with the NFL for the vast majority of us northeast corridor schools.
