So, whatever team we played had to be willing to come to the Pavilion, a much tougher place to play.

Now, why we didn't just start on the road, no idea. A visit to Madison would always be welcome in the letsgonova household.

Seriously doubt Wisconsin will be in it given the NYC tourney that following weekend.

Who knows, maybe it shook out that the BE had to get Nebraska as a home BE game. Fox looked at it and said, okay, Villanova probably gets some of the better BE TV ratings on their own, so let's send Nebraska to Villanova. Now, a team like PC that probably draws crappy TV ratings and needs some help so they send a higher profile team to PC. Obviously I have no idea, I'm just speculating.

(Puts on tin foil hat)

It occurred to me that maybe the Big 10 didn't really intend to run this on the up and up; they would like to add games that might catapult their more marginal teams into the Tourney and add some heft to their schedules while letting Michigan State and Wisconsin do whatever they want. They'll send their secondary and tertiary teams, who they can get attractive games for - and half of them at home.

This way they continue what they consider their march eastward exposurewise while getting to use us for quality RPI games for their needier teams without really throwing us a bone at all.

That's not crazy, right?

It's not crazy at all and while we can't completely return the favor we can say, Hey Michigan State, meet DePaul. They are better than Rutgers!

For anyone interested, here is a statistical rundown of next year's Big Ten rosters. In my opinion, this needs to wait until the upcoming NBA declaration deadline passes and the April LOI's are in hand. But the methodology for rankings is given, so you can argue statistics and facts rather than opinions. Top 3 from this Roster Ranking are Maryland, IU, and Michigan. Wisconsin comes in 12th.

Wisconsin loses a LOT next year. Bo always coaches 'em up so I expect they will still be solid, but nowhere near this year.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Had this happened last year there could've been 6 games between teams with sub 61 RPI. Whats the point of these challenges if we just serve each other cupcakes?

I think one major thing about the challenge on the Big Ten side of things- with everyone having to be in the challenge 4 times- in the 8 years(or 64 slots)- only 8 teams will be able to play in the challenge 5 times. 6 will be in the challenge only 4 times. So I don't think you ever are going to see it where there are all 6 of the top Big Ten teams playing in the same year. I thought all along this would be a good thing- not the home run that some folks thought it would be.
