xsteve, it is so simple yet so true. There is no mystery at all, our lack of size killed us. I would like to see Jay have the kids do a little more than jack 3's as well sometimes, but again, our size killed us tonight.

Due to our television contract situation, the NCAA tourney is likely the nation's primary exposure this year to the NBE.

Step out onto the ledge indeed.

And, if Xavier gets blown out against Arizona next week, the negative stories in the press will only get worse.

For that reason, I wouldn't be opposed to adding Dayton and VCU. But, would they even be interested at this point?

So we're going to add two more teams that won't make it out of the first weekend (only reason Dayton would this year is because the entire first weekend was a home game for them)?

Yes, the conference didn't perform as well as we all would have liked, but I for one don't want to make long-term decisions based on the lowest common denominator (casual basketball fans). Also, while this might be their first and only exposure to the league, it's not a recruit's, and the league continues to have good players commit to this basketball-first league. The tournament is a total crap shoot and is all about matchups. Really the only team that "Should" have won yesterday (other than Xavier) was Villanova, and they just had their worst shooting night of the year, which unfortunately can happen in the tournament.

This made me chuckle.

And why would we add Dayton? Once Archie leaves, watch Dayton go back to mediocrity.

Fact is we had 1 team ranked as a top 16 team. A bunch of teams in the 17-40 range. The tourney in it's deranged way worked out like that. Not the end of the world. Wonder how many BE teams are likely to be pre-season top 25 next season? I thought we were undervalued all year in the polls because of the previous year. Be interested if this season changes the perception with voters in the polls going into next season.

Word is that UDayton is headed to the ACC which will give the ACC Pitt, ND, U of L, and UDayton as the 4 schools in their midwestern footprint. UCincinnati is headed to the Big 12 combining with U West Virginia.

As far as medicrity goes for UDayton or anyone else, it's tough to point fingers at anyone else's mediocrity when we lived our own mediocrity yesterday. Thank God Baylor got upset or it likely would have been a shut out. So Sad for my VU 'Cats. We had a great regular season only to find disappointment yesterday!!

According to the seeds, Georgetown should have won.

As for basing decisions on things other than NCAA tournament results, how about the fact that attendance at the BE tournament was down this year from last? Or the fact that TV ratings for the BE tourney files were lower than last year and were the lowest rated game on TV that night? No room for improvement?

That was Indiana basketball at it's best last night. Really proud of Rosey Jones, playing on one leg. Good luck to Woods and Barlow in their future adventures. Woods could get a shot at playing overseas, and Barlow will be coaching somewhere next year.

On a related, yet OT note, Butler is close to finalizing a home-and-home series with Cincinnati. The first game would be next season, at Cincinnati, with a return trip to Hinkle in 2016-17.

BTW, no mention in the Indy Star whatsoever of the NBE's overall performance. Perhaps he angst from several last night was overstated. Xavier got an article due to Georgia State's Indy connection. You had to go half way through the article to read about Villanova.

You do realize Xavier beat the team that beat Baylor so I don't know how you think it likely would have been a shut out if Baylor had won. Xavier matched up just fine with Baylor.

Dayton is not going to the ACC. Not going to happen. Again, after Archie leaves, Dayton will be right back where they were with Purnell and Gregory.
