Whatever the Big East does well, Marquette taketh away....I can't believe this game is going down to the wire.

Hold on Seton Hall - you cannot lose to a Missouri Valley school.... it would be too embarrassing for Creighton fans.....

Good job Hall. Way to hang in there.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

We're the best conference in the nation right now regardless of how Marquette plays. Will it hold up? Probably not, but Marquette can lose every game rest of the season if the rest of the league plays half as well as they are.

Seton Hall won by 4, but the entire game they had a 10 to 15 point spread, got to 20 i think at one point. Illinois State must have hit 8 three pointers in the last 2 minutes, and they started intentionally fouling with 2 minutes to play too.

There actually should be a rule change with intentionally fouling... maybe on the 15th foul of the half, the offense gets 3 shots; also, under 2 minutes, on any foul committed in the backcourt by the losing team, 7 seconds are removed from the clock (1/5 of shot clock).

With Marquette, at this point while you're still figuring things out, so the bottom line is that you gutted it out and got the win. I saw parts of the last 8 minutes. Big problem was rebounding. MU has height issues, so that's expected somewhat.

So, we went 4-0 tonight, with:
- a dominating win vs #14 VCU,
- a Virgin Islands Tourney Championship that included an ACC team and an SEC team,
- a blowout win vs a solid Murray State team, and
- an ugly but gutsy, ballsy win by MU.

And the Big East is now what, 34-2...?
:D

gotta give Illinois State some credit- their 3 point shooting in the last 2 minutes was absurd, and it made that game look a lot closer than it really was. Thankfully, the Hall finally started hitting some free throws to make ISU's 3 point barrage more just annoying than actually threatening to steal the game. And how about Sterling Gibbs channeling his inner Kemba Walker. Everything he threw at the basket tonight seemed to find it's way in. Hopefully he can make a habit out of that.

Great night for the conference. Very pleased to see our early-season success, especially after all of the nay-sayers last year. Whether it was those who said, "no conference without ESPN could possibly succeed" or "the little-sisters of the poor conference" or even the "AAC came away with better basketball programs than the Big East", it is very satisfying to see our 34-2 record thus far. On behalf of Marquette, we apologize for the two losses.

GIbbs tourney MVP with 40 points in the championship game 10-14 from the field, 7-9 from 3 and 14-14 from the line. Think he is in contention this year for all Big East selection, Whitehead had his best game as a pirate with 18 points 5-8 from the field, 1-2 from 3 7-8 from the line with 6 assists and 3 boards. I know the field wasent the toughest but blame LSU and Clemoson for losing in the first round. Still the Hall handled business and won a tourney which I know will help this young team come March
