+1

I see Hawaii doing this in the next few years (no way recruits consider them now with their AD publicly unsure of the program's future). I see Idaho in that boat. Same for UAB.

If you are talking about FB then you are not thinking this through at all Stever. Who will they keep up with? The P5? Now that's funny. So when the P5 own/run all the significant bowl games, you really think that a team outside of their little club is just going to be invited to the party so they can get their fair share of the $ and exposure? Now that's funny. Unfortunately what this signals is that the Boise State's of the world and the AAC or MAC team that has has a great year is still going to be invited to the Chico's Bail Bonds Poinsetta Bowl while the BCS Bowls will be full of their own P5 teams. Talk about a great recruiting pitch that someone like Cincy can put out there when competing against OSU, L'ville or Tennessee (or even Kentucky) for an elite player from southern OH or N. KY: "Why go there (and have a legitimate shot at a NC), when you can come here and play in a bowl game on Dec. 22nd in Albuquerque vs. Fresno St." On the hoops side you can go to a Bucknell or a Wich St. and know that you have a very good shot of competing in the NC tourney every year. In FB the field, from this point forward, will never be level again.

Bucknell won first round games in the NCAA tournament in '05 and '06. I'd say they had a decent chance of advancing to the Sweet 16 those years. VCU made a Final 4 as a play-in team that wouldn't have even made the tournament a couple of years earlier. Hard to make the statement that they can't really compete when recent history has shown any school can win.
