I just dont see a point in running over to another conference board screaming about how you should be in a league. The reality today is there is no plans to expand anytime soon as of today, all subject to change but thats the real world.

You are right that we don't have any clout. I don't think Dayton fans are entitled, most posters here would openly acknowledge they have a chance of being added. Just loosen up, this is all for fun, and its interesting to try and identify the probabilities for new members. And Dayton's profile just changed with their success.

It's one year. Miller's probably headed for greener pastures after the season. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The conference itself isn't even talking about expansion. Let's see where everyone stands when the day for expansion actually comes. There's teams in this conference who had 5,10, 15, 20 years of success before the opportunity presented itself. So a nice 2014 season far from seals the deal IMO.

I know Xavier fans know everything about dayton. But Archie just signed a extension to 2018 to 2019. Sry to bust you hopes that he leaves

So Archie has security through 2019. Dayton doesn't. If Shaka doesn't want the Wake job, Archie just might. He has the ACC background and would do well there. I will put a lot of money on it that Archie is elsewhere before 2019. If he isn't that means something went horribly wrong.

Gee I've never seen so much the sky is fallen in my life.
I guess Dayton is the only program that could lose a coach etc.....
Things could go wrong for any program..

The X people are getting a little nervous.
The Miller contract was signed some months ago. Archie insisted that it be kept secret untill after the season.

Ive said it before I'll say it again.
Dayton will be just fine.
We have a great coach, great fans, plenty of money and an historic place to play.
The Big East will decide if whats best for the conference trumps whats best for X.

Do you realize what WF would have to pay Archie to leave at this point??? And by that I don't mean directly to Archie but now to UD. Steve Alford left right after signing an extension but that was for UCLA. A top 10 program.

Um, we've been here before. It went something like this:

"Excellent news. They just bumped Skip's package. Just saw him pull up to the brand new Cintas Center in a new Jaguar. We've got him locked up for years!" RESULT: Skip leaves for Wake Forest.

"Excellent news. They just bumped Thad's package. He just told Father Hoff that he loves it here. We've got him locked up for years!" RESULT: Thad leaves for Ohio State.

"Excellent news. They just bumped Sean's package. He finally turned down Arizona. We've got him locked up for years! What do you mean he changed his mind!?!" RESULT: Sean leaves for Arizona.

Archie may stay for another season. Frankly, I'm not up on which coaching jobs are coming available this year in the BCS ranks. I agree that there is no good reason for Archie to jump to a Wake Forest type position at this time; he probably can be more selective than that. But Archie Miller will not be coaching at Dayton through his extension, and most likely will not be there well before then.

Is it possible to combine the Dayton threads into one? I'm all for discussing Dayton as a potential expansion candidate, which there is currently an expansion thread. I'm on a "Big East basketball message board" looking to talk Big East basketball. I don't mind the occasional thread about expansion possibilities, as the talk about what teams might be added is interesting to me, but I'm not sure we need a new thread every day about the case for Dayton or Dayton has success. I don't see new threads for VCU, SLU , Richmond, etc being added everyday. That discussion is being contained within the expansion discussion thread. Obviously by my screen name I am a Xavier fan. I'm not trying to bash Dayton, and I really don't have a preference who is added to the Big East, when and if that happens. I'm open to whatever teams will best enhance the league and at the end of the day I realize that my opinion, along with anyone else on this websites opinion does not matter at all.

I don't think there's any Dayton fan out there who believes Archie will be around these parts in 2019. I give it two years.

I second that and suggest UD fans direct any and all comments to Big East expansion. If I were moderator I wouldn't permit the mutiple threads and there is no reason for dayton or UD to be in any thread header. UD is expansion thread material.
