It's nice that you remember Michael Graham and the one year that he played at Georgetown. Do you also remeber that he averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds per game that year?

I won't even engage a debate about Patrick's NBA career because it's irrelevant to how good a college player he was. I must say though that it's strange that you use that against him when you'd attributed the success of the Hoyas to the rest of the roster, none of whom did anything in the NBA.

Patrick led the Hoyas to 3 NCAA finals and a national championship. Here's the short list of schools who have done that in 4 years:

UCLA
Duke
Kenrucky
Georgetown
Cincinnati
Ohio State

Anyone questioning Ewing's dominance in college should just pick a different sport to follow because you have failed at following college basketball.

Jordan owned everybody. There is a generation of NBA players without a ring because of MJ (Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Dominique, Reggie Miller). Let's also not forget Jordan didn't win a ring until Pippen emerged as his #2. Something Ewing didn't have until he was way past his prime with Allan Houston. Also, saying Hakeem manhandled Ewing a bit much. Hakeem was a better player. I think that is undisputed but that doesn't mean Ewing wasn't a very good NBA center. He did get 20 and 10 in that series against Hakeem so he wasn't just taking up space.

during that same era CU had Benoit Benjamin. Ben was awesome, gifted, great touch. Statistically he matched up well with PE but PE had one key ingredient BB didn't.... Heart. PE was dominant because that word. This was the era of maybe the best centers in NCAA history. Hakeem at Houston. Even Nebraska had a good big man named Hoppen. I know BEast fans can rattle off more names from that time but to say Ewing is not one of the best is just false. It might have been the greatest time to be a basketball fan at any level. The skill level of big men is on a steady decline these days, touch, the beauty of a hook shot, boxing out, playing tough D... A lot could be learned by watching footage from that era.

This should be the final word on the subject.

Benoit benjamin was a better college center than Ewing. Edge to Ewing in the NBA. Do not be mad that I am right that your beloved Ewing was a pitiful center in the NBA. He acted like a guard, scared of legit Big men in the league. He did not have heart, he had too much koolaid in his system and sweated too much. His legacy in the BigEast is that of a whiny little kid in an oversized baby huey body.

As a St. John's fan, I hated Ewing. But he was a fearsome, dominant defensive presence. One of the greatest college players that I've seen. Anyone who disputes that either never saw him play or they are blinded by their hate.
