Just looking at ESPN's bracketology today-
final 4 byes are Cincy, Colorado St, Texas A&M, and LSU. Looking at it- Xavier is the only 10 seed not on that list, so they are the 5th bye right now....

The 4 9's currently are: Oregon, Ole Miss, NC State, and Oklahoma St
The 4 8's currently are: Dayton, St John's, Georgia, and VCU

Think looking at this- pretty obvious that if Xavier makes the tourney at 18-14, they're heading to Dayton without question.

outside of Xavier and St John's-
Georgetown, Butler, and PC all 6 seeds. It'll be interesting to see if the loser of the PC/Butler game drops to a 7 seed and if the winner bumps up to a 5.
Nova still the 4th 1. Lunardi on twitter last night was defending them pretty good actually from idiots. 1 idiot asked: "can Villanova move up on the one line?” Where have you been? Another one- "Villanova played up to they schedule but no quality wins against quality teams to deserve a 1 seed” Wrong.
so it's nice to see that.

I think bubble teams still will feel so much better when UConn loses in the AAC tourney.

Apparently you haven't been watching Creighton

Let's look-
first off- UConn even with all the losses is still 17-12. 3 1 point losses and 3 4 points or less. So less than 15 points away from being 23-6.
Creighton is 13-17. They too have 3 1 point losses. And then 4 4 points or less losses. So they're less than 20 points away from being 20-10.

I think it tinges even more for UConn because they wouldn't just be a tourney team(Creighton would be 20-10 right now, projected to lose vs X so 20-11 with a 37 RPI. UConn would be 23-6 right now, projected to lose vs Temple, so 23-7 with a 17 RPI.) but a top 5-6 seeded tourney team. Both teams are extremely unlucky this year.

They aren't unlucky. Luck had nothing to do with creightons loss to to nova and a lot of their other losses. They didn't execute down the stretch in the final moments. There's a fine line between winning and losing, and you are what your record says you are

What's equally obvious is that such a move is happening only in Lunardi's mind because his brackets are purely hypothetical and have absolutely no impact on the real world.

Well obviously- but still- don't think there's any question that if Xavier is 18-14, they're either in the NIT or in Dayton.

Why so much talk about Xavier? This league has a chance to have a team as a number 1 seed, and some other teams playing well. I don't understand all of the Xavier talk. Who cares? They are average in all areas. If they get in, GREAT for BE. If not, who cares? They've had an average year. They are an inconsistent, average team. St. John's and Butler and Villanova are great stories!!

wow-
http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketba ... s-bad-loss

Xavier: What if Dee Davis misses his free throws? Xavier didn't have to find out. Instead, Davis sank both of his free throws with four seconds to play and the Musketeers escaped Creighton with a 74-73 victory. A loss would have been less than ideal: The Bluejays already knocked off Xavier at the Cintas Center back on Feb. 4 and a sweep would have added another sub-100 loss to a résumé that already includes defeats to Long Beach State, Auburn and DePaul. It would also have left Xavier at 8-10 in the Big East and just 18-13 overall -- hardly stellar stuff, even against a top-15 schedule. Instead, there's no reason to downgrade Xavier. We don't believe the Musketeers are a lock, because one bad loss in the Big East tournament might force us to revisit some of the above questions. But XU fans will feel far less anxious than they might have had Davis not come through in the clutch. Those were big, big shots.

I'm sorry- but given that Butler is Xavier's opponent 1st round- there's no chance of a bad loss. So I can't see how they aren't a lock right now.

(and man what a horrible foul there by Creighton in that situation- don't know what they were thinking).

Xavier avoids disaster at Creighton. They are now safely in. #BracketWatch
