Here's an article analyzing UConn's attendance trends. The author makes the point that in the old days in the Big East, games against Syracuse, Pitt, and Villanova were routinely sellouts at the 16,000 seat Civic Center. But he says, the benefit was greater than that. The demand for those games increased the number of tickets sold for the entire Civic Center package. By buying the entire package, fans were assured of having a ticket for those games. But now, fans can cherry pick the games they want like SMU and Cincinnati without buying tickets for other games since nothing sells out. Good point.

Can that program withstand Marshall leaving? Wichita State's HC was pretty frank about someday probably leaving the school. Other than that, it's such a slam dunk addition that I don't know why it hasn't happened already.

If Wichita State is added to the American, Gregg Marshall would be the highest paid coach in the conference - even more so than Kevin Ollie at UConn. If/when they leave the MVC, I would who they would look to add to replace them. Belmont? Murray State? UIC? Valparaiso?

New Mexico State desperately would want to get into the MVC, but the feeling likely isn't mutual. FWIW, NMSU has won the WAS most years this decade.

I'm surprised that WSU ism't interested in getting into a Conference that stresses BASKETBALL rather than football. Their entry into the A-10 would cause that Conference to send the AAC down yet another notch from relevancy. It would also probably elevate the A-10 to a level above at least one one of the Power 5 FB conferences!

Tulsa is one of their big rivals, and honestly the A10 isn't any more stable than the AAC, as their best programs are prime candidate to get poached by the Big East.

The AAC also has a national program that is an anchor for basketball in UConn. No one in the A-10 can come close to that. Between UConn, Cincinnati, Temple and Memphis, as well as the the rise of Houston, SMU and UCF, there are a lot of programs that Wichita State could rely on in order to strengthen its conference schedule. You would also have some regionality in Tulsa, Houston, SMU and Tulane.
