Thanks for that, Stever! That entire first BE season was one long party for Creighton fans: fans singing Sweet Caroline so loud after a timeout that Marquette got messed up and turned the ball over, the Wragge Nova game, Dougie's last second shot to beat the Johnnies, Dougie's senior night against PC ...

Eight years later, I still can't believe we get to play in this league. Basketball Valhalla!

Yeah everyone remembers the Wragge game. I think CU led 90-50 at one point. But the game at home might’ve been an even bigger butt kicking in that it wasn’t even really competitive 101-80.

It was very fortunate timing for both Creighton and the Big East. Having a once in a generation caliber player of the year was massive for the perception of this conference in the very first season of reconfiguration.

Great stuff. Love the sweaters and hearing Raf on the call. It's pretty amazing how the game has changed since then.

The thing that's amazing to me watching that first game with the 2 is how the game was called. Some real ticky tack fouls as folks would say early on.

Fun watching bits of that sweater game again. Even though the Johnnies were ranked No 1 at the time, game was never really competitive. Georgetown was on a whole different level. Still amazed that they didn't win it all that year. In the earlier Georgetown/UCONN game, that was a great match up of guards with Iverson vs Allen. Funny thing is as good as those guys were, I thought Kerry Kittles was better than them both that year. I was at the BET championship game later that season, when they both met again, and UCONN got revenge with a one point victory. One other thing that was funny, at the end of the regular season game Dick Vitale starts going off how he doesn't want to hear anyone talk about the ACC or BIG 10 being the best league, because the Big East is the best basketball league hands down. These days we're lucky if ESPN even acknowledges the BE, let alone heap that kind of praise on us.
