There should be NO reason to bring on a program to this conference that needs to be "brought along," and taugght how to be successful. We are the BIG-Freaking-EAST!!!!

Expand only if it makes you better: Gonzaga, UConn; maybe VCU, UNLV, BYU. SLU, Dayton, Cincy, Temple, Memphis = 2nd tier, no thanks. All the rest = yawn.

Hold onto the round robin and continue to tout that we are the premier hoops-only league. It is working...let it grow. Then take programs that make us better. Period. Maybe wait and see if there are more FB shakeups. Who's to say they don't go to (4) 16 team leagues and our prospective pool of programs becomes deeper and wider.

Gumby, there was a discussion about getting a team into Boston, so i spent a couple of minutes to look at the only possible options to do that. All are poor choices. I just put the information down. Me, i don't want to expand. If we do though, my first choice would be go with Gonzaga and stop at 11. But i want to stick with 10.

I get it BJack. Just frustrated by the expansion talk that starts with programs that the A-10 and C-USA usually consider. I just think we have a great thing going... Why dilute it with slop when we can sit back, continue to develop and have our pick of the litter in a couple years when the FB dreams of great BB programs are ultimately dashed?

That's the point. There are no expansion candidates that meet all the criteria.

Right, i agree with you. I think that's the best strategy.

A big reason why we have hit a standstill with expansion talks with conferences is because there really is no program out there that tilts the scales, in terms of market, prestige and athletic achievement. Grant of Rights with certain conferences has also contributed to the lack of news regarding possible conference shifts.

In my opinion, I love where the Big East is currently at. My only real hopeful addition to the conference would be Saint Louis, but until Jim Crews and the athletic program shows that they can still be a consistent NCAA Tournament-contender without the leadership of Rick Majerus (and his recruits), we need to wait for them to make the jump.

In my view, I see West Virginia, UConn and Cincinnati as the losers of the realignment game. West Virginia, while given a life raft out of the old Big East, now needs to travel to Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa for conference games. Students are the real losers in that regard. UConn and Cincinnati simply wasn't offered a seat at any of the tables. Cincinnati is a lot closer to getting selected into the P5 than UConn is, but until another round of expansion occurs, they are both stuck. UConn is hoping and praying football can do something, anything really, to possibly get a look from the ACC. Neither is AAU, so that works against their favor.

What teams were added?
Team A, Team B

What do they bring to the table?
Huge new markets

What circumstances led to their inclusion?
The south rose again

What, if anything, would change about the league with these teams?
Zilch
.

Duke
Memphis
UConn/Temple
Gonzaga

They bring hi level basketball/ only Zags n Duke are private.

Duke- ACC implosion/NC death penalty, MD & VA to B1G. Lonely and want the NYC bright lights and MSG title.
Memphis, UConn/Temple want to upgrade from The little America conference.
Zags- tired of playing (basketball) with themselves.

BE regains title as the top/pre-eminent Div 1 basketball conference.

It's possible - not probable, but stranger things have already happened: WVA to Big12, Mizzou, TAMU, Ark to SEC, Neb, MD, Rutgers to B1G, the Big East to the ACC.
C'mon Duke.

Stop with Duke which is utter nonsense. Uconn or no one. Ultimately the conference may conclude that 10 is optimal. When DePaul regains its footing this conference will be unreal.

I love having 10, with each team playing each other twice. I hope even if we expand to 12, we find a way to continue that. That would mean 22 conference games for each team and might be hard to do.

Last night, during they Iowa State/ Kansas game. Jay Bilas incorrectly stated that the Big 12 is the only conference that has the true round robin format. Somehow, he forgets that the Big East exists.

Jay Bilas is an idiot many conferences have true round robins. Of the top of my head I could name the following

Big East
Big12
Colonial
Ivy
Missouri Valley
Horizon
American East
Patriot
And West Coast

I am sure that's not all of them but I am not a college basketball "expert" like Jay Bias. Pretty sad that I know that and he doesn't.
