Sorry about that one, guys. This team is a head scratcher this season. I don't know what to think other than we just aren't that good. Maybe Fischer will make a difference, but it doesn't seem overly likely.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

It's only 3 games in.

I'm not ready to go off the deep end, call it a season, scream for Wojo's head, or anything like that. I'm sincerely disappointed and troubled by this loss. I didn't expect to be an NCAA or even necessarily NIT team this year, but I had this one chalked up as a win. They will get better, Fischer will help, it will still be a down year. We will be better next season, I will keep going to games (already sprung for the season tix), and I'll buy again next year. It's just very deflating.

While I'm at it, I should probably congratulate Providence, Georgetown, and Butler on great wins. Nice work, everyone.

Often or usually when a team gets a new coach, there are some hiccups and speedbumps as things get started. The players have to adjust to a new way of doing things, and the coach needs to experiment with personnel and strategies.

So losing a game like this is no big deal in the long run. There is no question in my mind that Wojo will be an excellent coach at Marquette, and is perfect for the job. Buzz, who lost to Appy State at home today, left the program with a mess to clean up. I think MU's loss just stands out today because the Big East has been near perfect thru today's games.

Exactly. As I said earlier, a few major teams lose games like this every year. It happens. I do worry just a bit about how it will affect the league's RPI and individual team's RPIs come March.

The Friars:
I couldn't get to Mohegan Sun today, and i don't use ESPN-3, so i just relied on message board chatter, boxscores, and game recaps. Holy cow, apparently the game was a Friar highlight reel, just a complete dismantling of Florida State. Kris Dunn just ran the show like we were the freakin Globetrotters.

Hoping the great play continues vs the Irish tomorrow. As i mentioned the other day, our last meeting vs Notre Dame was a 25+ point Friar blowout win. So Ed Cooley is familiar with Mike Brey, and i would imagine we will at least be prepared and not be blindsided by anything.

Butler won 80-39 over Loyola of Baltimore. Gonna watch the tape of it later. From the boxscore, i noticed that only 3 players on Loyola scored. I'm thinking that has to be some kind of record.

With Butler, the new coach tendency to struggle doesn't apply to them. Still formulating it in my head, but I'm thinking that because Holtman was such an important part of the staff already, the transition has been seamless.

Our defense has been scary good in the first three games. We'll see if it's legit on Wednesday against UNC.
