you are the one that focuses incessantly on power conference/non power conference. You think for Marquette last night's loss to New Mexico is 100% worse than their loss earlier to Arizona St- and that's a complete joke. No real basketball person thinks like that at all. They don't apply labels like you want to do all the time.

Well, I'm not a real basketball person. I'm a fan. I have no say in NCAA bids, expansion candidates, tv contracts or RPI. I'm an attorney with season tix for the Johnnies, not a real basketball person. You shouldn't let my opinions get you all excited. You are obviously a real basketball person so why waste your energy commenting on a fake basketball person? I disagree with some opinions on here but I don't resort to belittling because at the end if the day - it's college basketball. So enjoy your Christmas and hopefully Santa is a real basketball person and will fill your stocking with Wins over the RPI top fifty regardless of conference affiliation. Peace.

Don't worry, Stever can never ever be positive or agree with anyone. He also likes to act like he's the smartest person on the boards, which isn't always the case. Don't let him get to you, everyone feels the same way about him as you do.

The thing is, I don't think you realize how much college basketball has changed. It's not what it was 10-15 years ago at all-when if you weren't in a BCS conference you had almost no hope. Things have changed so much it's not funny. I mean- last 10 years teams like George Mason, VCU, Wichita St, Butler- making the final 4? The lines have blurred so much between power conferences/non power conferences it's not funny. Used to be what you were saying was spot on- but that's just not the case any longer. It's a completely different basketball world than 20 years ago. I mean, 20 years ago, would we ever say that the A10 would be likely to get the same # of bids that we would be getting? Heck no.

Hey, I don't care. He's entitled to his opinion just like everyone else on here. He's a real basketball person and I want to make sure that everyone on here realizes that I'm not and that my opinion effects no one and will have no effect on how well any if these teams do or how well the league performs overall.

I thought I was a real basketball person, but this explanation makes sense. I am just an anonymous message board poster.

1. Nova - they will hold this spot at least until Big East play regardless of what happens in the Dome next weekend.
2. Creighton - only two losses to San Diego State and GW. the GW one is not great but it's only one and they have beaten some decent teams.
3. St. John's - it hasn't always looked pretty but it doesn't have to. Three losses. Wisconsin which is currently undefeated and in the top 5, Syracuse which is undefeated and in the top five, and Penn State in overtime. The Penn State loss is the only bad one. They played Cuse very close and have outplayed every team they have played in the second half. No marque wins, but very few have those.
4. Xavier- three losses all to power conference teams although two of those were winnable. Nice win against a good Cincy team.
5. Providence - Losses to Maryland and Kentucky. Maryland not particulary good. Decent wins as well. Will be interesting to see how they get throughbtheir injuries.
6. Butler - not sure what to make of the Bulldogs so far but they are certainly holding their own.
7. Georgetown- one bad loss out of three, but nothing very impressive especially of late. The VCU win is losing it's luster and if you are a top team in this league, you can't get blown out in December by Kansas.
8. Marquette- Five losses. They were the on,unranked team in the pre-season and the league favorite. Five losses is tough as we get ready to enter the conference season.
9. DePaul - has four losses but all to power conference teams. This keeps them out of the basement for now.
10. Seton Hall - 1-3 against schools in New Jersey. The win is against Rutgers who is horrible. The losses are FDU, St. Peter's, and Mercer. I will just leave it there.

once again you focus WAY too much on power conference teams. I'm sorry, but the committee doesn't give a rip that VCU is in the A10 or Va Tech is in the ACC. I mean you are saying looking at this that PC's wins over BC and Vandy are good because they're power conference games, while Georgetown's win over VCU doesn't mean much because they're in the A10. That's a joke. Fortunately the committee does not look at things like that at all- they look at each team individually. Also, you are so inconsistent. DePaul lost to Wichita St, which isn't in a power conference according to you.

I am not focusing on power conference teams. The VCU win doesn't look so good because VCU has slipped since the G'Town win. PC's wins against BC and Vandy are better than wins against High Point and Milwaulkee. This is a comparison within the conference. There are very little marquee wins so we are comparing wins against non-marque opponents. And its an opinion, which I don't think this list is very far off from the bulk of where everyone thinks these teams are.

If you're not focusing on power conference teams, then when you ranked Xavier number four, why did you give the tag "three losses all to power conference teams," as if the power conference label meant something. That's why I specifically pointed out USC, one of the teams Xavier lost to. They are a power conference team, but they are also not a good team. With the Dayton win, their RPI got a huge boost up to 73 (so maybe they won't end up a bad loss), but they're still only #100 in Kenpom.

Of course he focuses on power conference teams. He does a thread on Big East vs power conference teams- like those are the only ones that matter- that any loss outside that is a terrible loss, and any loss inside that is a quality loss.

Like look at Oregon St- which is a worse loss- DePaul or #66 Akron? Of course DePaul is, even with the Big East label. Teams matter rather than conferences.
