I stand by what I said about MU and Nova regarding National Cred. So far all the arguments (minus the one about more tournament appearances which you have one more if we're counting invites rather than appearances) are purely Big East specific. But the fact is the Big East isn't the end all be all of national credibility sorry to burst some bubbles. And I'm sorry Gumby but Al Mcguire vs Dean Smith was definitely just as big of a coaching match up as Rollie Massimino and John Thompson.

I've never heard of a conversation like this between BE fans, not saying it hasn't happen before but you almost sound like you'd rather be back in the old C-USA. I find it hard to believe Anyone officially affiliated with Marquette would agree with you about this conference's historical status.

That is NOT what he said.
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes to make it possible”

This argument is so childish. The problem is that outside of basketball fans people still think Marquette's in Michigan when I tell them my college. We have a lot of elite schools its childish to fight over them. Frankly it is embarrassing me as a Marquette fan and Im sure it is embarrassing for you Nova fans as well, not even including how childish the rest of you must think it is.

So hopefully we can grow up a little bit and respect each other as we all bring something to the table.
Coach Al Mcguire:
"I like seashells and balloons, ribbons and medals, bare feet and wet grass."
"When I'm losing, they call me nuts. When I'm winning, they call me eccentric."
"Queen of victory, pray for us."

And how do I sound like I'd rather be back in the old C-USA? And I'm very much "officially affiliated with Marquette" would you like a picture of my MU ID or something? I'm only saying that certain people from the original 5 schools should get off their high horses about CBB past and realize that time didn't stop for the BE.

Dude I don't know where you're from but that's kinda weird. I'm only fighting with the guy who was sitting around putting MU down as if we'd only ever had one good year.

I agree with that point, I say the same thing to ACC fans. But you are talking about brands here and you're saying the BE brand isn't the biggest conference brand marq has ever had? Every BE program including the original 5 made the biggest conference jump in their history when they joined the BE.

Anyway I thought this was the point of this thread:

"For the first time, college basketball airs on FOX! #10 Ohio State vs. #17 Marquette tomorrow at 1:00 pm ET."

Wisconsin first off won a title back in 1942. That ain't 5 years ago.

The current run is oh about 20 years old now 1994 they got a bid and then again in 97. Now since 99 they've made the tourney every year. That's 15 years.

Arkansas has been to the tourney 3 times in the last 13 years. At some point, that flipping matters. No one outside of well just about you would view playing Arkansas as being remotely close to playing Wisconsin.

And they did what from 1942 to 2000? A bunch of randos got national championships in the 30s and 40s, that does not make them a power. They literally didn't do anything until Bennett---literally NO tourney appearance between 1947-1994! And outside of 2000, they have one Elite 8 since. And if you look, since the 2000 run, they have never beaten a lower seeded team than them in the tourney. They're a solid program (more than solid) that will have an entertaining and successful regular season but flame out in the tourney. That is not a Big Boy.

The fallout of Nolan Richardson at the end of the 2000s really hurt Arkansas for a while, but if Mike Anderson can make the type of strides he was making in Mizzou that program will quickly match and surpass the national "brand" of Wisconsin. That's all. There's more potential at Arkansas, and a lot more money, so I'm not going to bury a program as "nothing" simply because of right now. Hell, we all know our programs have gone through similar droughts.

It's a major if at Arkansas. 3 tourney trips in 13 years and they have a ton of work to do. Arkansas is so far down right now it's not funny. maybe if they get back they would be viewed really well- but I don't think any one thought even when they were doing well that they were one of the true big boys at all.

You may hate it- but Wisconsin is a pretty big name today. not on the level of your UNC/Duke/Indiana/ etc. but they're clearly on that 2nd tier. Arkansas now is on that 4th/5th tier quite frankly.

I've got a bad vibe for Marquette in this one.
