It was pretty clear they'd already quit by halftime. No emotion at all. Hopefully it's because they know their coach is gone, but I can't imagine Maryland would be interested in Willard after these recent performances.

Is this really true? To Maryland? And Holloway will come to the Pirates? After tonight Willard might need to move on.

A lot of rumors but I can't imagine it's true. Who would want a coach who just got his doors blown off by a frankly bad TCU team?

What is bad like he said- compare this effort to St Peter's last night. No comparison at all.

From Carino-
Willard on job rumors: "When I get home tomorrow I will discuss things with my agent. I'll be honest: If I'm not here next year, if Shaheen Holloway is here, that would be the happiest thing that ever happened to me"

Was just about to share this. Sounds like a coach who knows he's leaving.

don't know that I have ever heard a coach sound like that before quite honestly.

Tough situation Seton Hall finds itself in. Willard is good enough to want to keep, but is a proven disappointment in the tournament, runs undisciplined offense, and the annual rumors of him leaving can't be too pleasant. To his credit he has rejected the likes of VT, but his mind is already elsewhere I'm afraid. Would Seton Hall be really locked into Holloway and not even sniff around at more proven coaches available? The next coach would be stepping into a better situation (solid conference affiliation, new practice facility about to break ground, good fan support due to recent winning seasons) than Willard did, so it's a pretty good job opportunity IMO.

While they wouldn't necessarily be "locked in" to Holloway, he's definitely the fan choice. Could they have a shot at some more proven coaches? Maybe, but Seton Hall would be nothing more than a stepping stone for them. That's the reality - it's not a destination job for most. Maybe 4-5 years then they're off to a P5 if successful or fired if not. The feeling is that Holloway would see Seton Hall as his destination job and could become something like our Ed Cooley - a guy who's happy to turn down larger paychecks to just stay home.

Interesting parallels to back when Lappas was at Nova. Steve recruited talent, did well in the regular season and then just couldn’t put it together in the tourney. A young coach, part of the family tree, was nearing a contract with another program. Maybe it’s just time for Willard to start fresh elsewhere and for SH (even his initials seem part of the kismet of it all) to step in.

Side note…watching SHU, UConn and Marq…maybe we are not as good of a league as we all thought. I guess the same could be said of the SEC though.
