It will be Gillespie or Zegarowski. Whichever team is the #1 seed at MSG, their PG wins.

David Duke shot 37% from the field and averaged 5.0 turnovers per game in wins over a Bouknight-less UConn and DePaul.

Creighton beat Georgetown and Villanova.

Christian Bishop: 16.5 PPG, 77.8% FG, 9.5 RPG, 2.0 BPG.

Marcus Zegarowski: 17.0 PPG, 48.1% FG, 4.5 APG, 4.5 RPG.

What a joke....

It's a Gumby-led conspiracy to keep THE BISHOP from getting onto an All-Big East team this year!

Ain’t gonna happen my friend.

Locks IMO: Z, Gillespie, Mamu, Duke.
2 of these 3: JRE, Bouknight, Champagnie
Outside realistic consideration: The Bishop

I’d have JRE ahead of Duke, especially if Villanova wins the league outright. Maybe Champagnie too. It will be interesting to see if Bouknight gets the votes.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

When you look at the actual numbers, Champangnie leads everyone. He is top ten in every statistical category except assists and assists to turnover ratio which makes sense since he is not a point guard. If it's going to go to a player on a top team, it would seem Zeg has a slight edge numbers wise over Gillespie. Mamu's numbers would really put him well behind the other three. I think if Creighton winds up sweeping Nova but still is the second seed, Zeg will get it.

Seems reasonable. Now let's talk COY. Go... LOL.

That's going to be ClusterF. Can't really make a case for anyone at this point, can you?

For COY, at this point, would have to consider Mike Anderson, based on where SJU was projected and where they are, or Travis Steele.

POY: Gillespie

First Team: Gillespie, Z, Mamu, Bouk, JRE, Champagnie

COY: Wright (Everyone else has warts. Re Anderson: Johnnies likely to finish under .500 in league play. Can't give him the hardware for that.)

I still think Anderson is the lead for COY. Posh likely FOY.

Anderson is a great coach. SJU has had some really bright moments this year and looked really good at times. SJU is also currently sitting with a losing conference record and in the bottom half of the conference.

You can go back a decade or more and see that the COY in this conference is virtually *always* from a team that finishes first or second. Always. And especially since the creation of the New Big East, that's been the rule. Anderson has pretty much zero chance of being named COY this year. It's almost certainly going to be Wright or McDermott.

That's also why Champaignie really has virtually no shot of being POY this year. He's looked like the best individual player at times, for sure. Love his game. But the overall performance and record of SJU takes him out of the running, because that award also pretty much always goes to the top player or the "leader" of the team that finishes in first or second. It seems almost certainly to be Gillespie or Zegarowki at this point, even though you can absolutely make cases for guys like Champaignie and Bouknight to have been the "best" players over the course of the season.

It's been a really weird year, so it's always possible, I suppose, that the awards are also really unusual. But history suggests the above at this point, right or wrong.
