I wouldn't start the hand wringing over PC just yet. Yes they have improved their play but both wins were over teams that weren't at full strength. If they can pull off a win @ Marquette it might be time to at least take notice

Marquette and PC have a strange history, so anything is possible in that game.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Villanova coach Jay Wright said Marquette guard Markus Howard played on a different level from anyone his team could throw at him Saturday.

Howard scored 29 points and the Golden Eagles used a big first half to beat Wright's 10th-ranked Wildcats, 71-60.

''He's just in total control out there,'' Wright said of the 5-foot-11 guard. ''Even defensively, he's so smart. He uses his body well. Offensively, he's always under control. He's never off-balance. He's got an incredible basketball IQ. He's got great confidence. You just see each of those areas get better and better. I used to get aggravated over Oliver Purnell teams screwing things up for the other 9 of us, so i totally understand where some of you are coming from. As it is, PC still makes tons and tons of unforced turnovers, and should be a comfortable win for any team that plays smart.

I'm going to come off as unappreciative probably about today's game but:

The basketball IQ of Pipkins is the lowest of any Friar in our history, and he's contagious with Alpha making poor decisions too and taking asinine shots.

For every 3 he drained, Pipkins would give points back with passes to nowhere and-or no one, throwing up bricks, giving up wide open jumpers... the ridiculous play was up 3 with 35 seconds left, sprinting downcourt and going 1 on 3 with 20 left on the shot clock... wtf... he deserved the charge for his ridiculous decision-making.

Anyway, i think i said this a few weeks ago... Duke should run the point, and Pipkins and White should be used separately as spark plugs who get yanked quickly. Cooley did that today except he left Pipkins out there too long in my opinion... but he was in his hometown so i can see giving him more run.

Also, in past years i can't imagine getting that fouled called on DePaul with 0.7 seconds in the game. I mean, it was a foul, but i think cuz we've been so sucky the refs gave us a break. I noticed this at times last season, specifically in our OT loss at Creighton... the refs f-ck us constantly over the years, but in games like i just described where our season has sucked, the refs give us 50-50 calls. Coulda used these calls in the fuckin Dayton and UNC games.

One other thing:

The BE has been amazing over our last 6+ seasons, but imagine the difference if these two players never existed:
- the Koenig guy on Wisconsin... Xavier and Villanova games.
- Luwane Pipkins on UMass... helped cost us a bid last season, and hurt our seeding 3 years ago.
- Luwane Pipkins on PC... has been Jekyll and Hyde.

I still for PC can't shake my mind of that Dayton game.... That T on Cooley was the worst one I've ever seen...
