I voted for Marquette, who I first started following when Eddie Hickey was head coach of the Warriors. I soon became a fan of Al McGuire, who is still one of my all-time favorite college basketball coaches. In 1970, Marquette became my second-favorite team, and has been so for nearly 50 years.

Marquette is the only university to spurn a NCAA Tournament invite and did so due to a low seeding in the 1970 NCAA Tournament and having to travel. They were ranked 8th in the country at the time and were one of the favorites to win the NCAA championship. They were invited to the 1970 NIT which they won. The NCAA later instituted a rule which forbade an NCAA Division I level men's basketball team from spurning an NCAA bid for an NIT bid. An antitrust case by the NIT ensued over this issue, and the NCAA settled out of court.

There was a real buzz in Dayton in the summer of 1966 when it was announced that the first-ever game between UD and Marquette would take place on December 28, 1966 at UD Fieldhouse and all 5,882 seats at the UD Fieldhouse sold out instantly. Marquette (a fellow Catholic Independent university) was considered to be a great addition to the Flyers’ 1966-67 schedule. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they ran into a buzz saw.

Dayton won the game 95-76 in a season that ended with a loss to John Wooden’s UCLA Bruins in the 1967 NCAA Championship game.

Marquette went on to have a fine season before their loss in the 1967 NIT Championship game at the old Madison Square Gardens.

The Flyers and Warriors have played many memorable games since then, with Marquette getting the better of Dayton more often than not.

Our board is more active than C or X. Right now we are discussing pizza.

Obviously they have great fan support, however I think the poll here is misleading since their dedicated Xavier/Creighton forums aren't as active as others I've seen. I guess a lot of their fans post here for that reason.

Do UConn (Boneyard) and St. John's (Redmen) have the most active dedicated forums?

Yep, though I mostly lurk. I’m not even sure what the big Creighton forum is? White & Blue Review? Bluejay Underground?

I stumbled upon this site back when all of the conference realignment was happening. The Catholic Conference was always a pipe dream for Creighton. So happy it all came together under the Big East banner. I feel like the Jays have reached the ‘Holy Land.’ Glad to see UConn join the fun.

XavierHoops.com and MusketeerMadness are the two main X boards of which I am aware. XH has become the bigger of the two boards.

It's stats at the bottom of its home page reflect:

- Threads 22,711
- Posts 468,922
- Members 3,614

Showing an initial copyright date of 2007.

Don't know how that compares to the other existing 10, though I'm certain it won't match UConn's base.

I just read the paysite at X 247 and Hoh. I quit madness and X hoops years ago. I just want the latest news. I got sick of sorting through posts from inexperienced fans and trolls.

Bluejayunderground.com and Bluejaybanter.com are Creighton's primary boards. Both are approx. 1100 members, but BJU which is part of the White and Blue Review has been around since 2009. BJB is the Rivals board, which was previously held by the now defunct BluejayCafe, the previous standard bearer. Of the 2 current main boards BJU may be the busier one. I and others expected a surge in membership after the move to the BE, but growth has been slow. The Scout site is dead - Bluejay Report. Bluenotes2.com (2008) is intermittent (gtmo). Others come & go.

I'm wondering who indicated Seton Hall in the poll, because I didn't lol

Shameless plug for yer blog there GIT? There’s no shame in that!

What I like about all the other sites as the Butler fan eluded to, is all the foodie threads... Omaha likes to think of itself as a big city but I like how we have the only board with no interesting OT threads like Philly cheesesteaks or pizza or such with all the other fans, in huge cities. Kinda interesting. Ironically Omaha has some f---ing incredulously scrumptious restaurants, and it’s not just steakhouses either.

Well django, perhaps you should start a foodie thread for one or both of the Omaha boards?

Big Broncos? Runzas? Italian Sausage? You should take the initiative.

Haven’t lived in Omaha for 24 years so I wouldn’t know. I’ve heard some of my favorites are gone, Bohemian Cafe, Mr. Cs, really glad my go-to place Ms Pub reopened after the fire, Broncos and Runzas rule for fast food
