“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes to make it possible”

I`m going to exclude Creighton, Xavier, and Butler in this because they weren`t apart of the OBE.

Now to everyone else: Do you remeber Yukon trying to leave B.E. not once but twice, and got rejected twice by the ACC.
So did they give a shit about us? No they didn`t.

But Now we`re suppose to do them a favor and add then to the NBE? F Yukon, and Calhoun. Yeah I know Ollie is there, but I still hate Calhoun.

You are nuts if you'd turn down UConn…a team that has won 2 rings in the past 4 years and 4 total for the men's and 9 for the women. They are better than Syracuse. It would really help heal the wound left by Pitt, L'Ville, and Cuse leaving. Adding UConn is what puts the exclamation point on our conference. Right now analysts still compare us to the A-10 and AAC and in many cases in a less favorable light. Adding UConn basically says "There is no question…the Big East is still major and they will always be a real factor".

As a Johnny fan myself I hate UConn as a rival but it's all in good fun. It's a great local rivalry and they have TONS of local alumni who sell out the Garden. UConn is the best program in basketball in recent times. How could you possibly turn them away? Would you rather see them go to the ACC?

Then go ahead Hooper and kiss their ass because of their success.
Again, they tried to leave the old B.E. twice.

Yeah let them come to the new B.E and when the ACC comes calling they`ll say: "oh ty for letting us join for B.E for a couple of years, now we`re going to the ACC. BYEBYE. You really think Yukon wants to be with us? LMFAO.
For only one reason, MSG for the conf tourny, and that`s all.

Yeah kiss their pos asses, I say let them rot in the AAC. L`Ville is bye bye next year along with RU. Once Brown retires from SMU will they continue to be good. Memphis will continue to be good. Cincy with Yukon is the last from the old B.E. USF is nothing.

Who else is there? Tulane, Tulsa, UCF (ok in FBall their good, but not in BBall.),e carolina, Houston, Temple? lol
To bad their fans ave to travel to Memphis for their conf tourny. They had it so good in the OBE.

Give them no favors. If SJU sucks next year, but doesn`t extend lavin then i`ll be on board.
If we add Yukon then I`ll be done with Coll BBall.
That`s just how much I hate them.

UCONN to the nBE! That would be my vote. Put huge exit fees in place ($20m). We would gain instant credibility. 4 NC's in 16 years and their fans travel very well for the BET. Enough said; we need both of those things badly.

Yup. Agreed. Just make the exit fee something enormous. Have it put in writing they will be here for the long haul. If they agree to very strict terms then you let them in. Bringing back UConn makes us much closer to the old Big East than we are right now. Hell, with UConn added, ESPN might even reconsider us and drop the AAC for us.

As a Butler fan, I like what we have right now. Academic, private institutions that provide a much needed east-coast basketball-only conference. If you let UConn in, you lose all privacy (public disclosure laws), and potentially become a destination for schools to park basketball and non-revenue sports while they chase the almighty pigskin.

I vote no.

Football ruined college athletics, plain and simple. Most UCONN fans, including myself, would prefer to still play in today's Big East, but UCONN has invested too much in football to abandon its "all sports dream." I think the AAC makes the most sense for what UCONN is trying to do right now. I did hear that UCONN was talking with Georgetown and Villanova about potential OOC games. I also saw that someone posted about UCONN turning down a home and home with Providence. I wasn't aware of that and am not sure of a reason behind it. Most of the AAC hatred seems to come from Tulane, ECU, and the new members. I find that most UCONN and Cincinnati fans have nothing bad to say about you guys. While UCONN did switch over to the "football voting block," I don't think we burned many bridges with the C7. Most of our enemies seem to be in the ACC now. I wish you guys had stayed, but I fully understand the wanting to breakaway, especially given the new conference make-up.

Anyways...I was reading your board and thought I'd throw in my perspective on things.

I think this is a major reason why the Big East will hold off on expansion for another few years. Schools like VCU, St. Louis, Dayton and Richmond would be good but not great additions. If they can find a way to lure a school like UConn on board, that changes everything.

I understand this point, but the Big East has 10 anchor schools with no aspirations of playing FBS football. Adding one or two football schools with a small risk of them leaving would not do anything to shake up the core of the conference.
