Not sure if this factored in for Diallo, but a school can't attend every event that a recruit plays in. There are NCAA restrictions that limit contact.

2. Their not in Boston for one tournament so that automatically means they aren't doing any recruiting what-so-ever gotcha. Yeah, that makes total sense.

3. What happened to Whitesell? I don't know, im not his f---ing keeper. Looks like he has them playing the right way now. Did you watch the Butler game? It's clear we have a clear group of kids who can play. (Harrison, Branch, Jordan, Sampson, Sanchez) with a few contributors off the bench (Godsgift, Pointer, Greene).

4. You just like bitching, but you don't really have a clue what you're talking about. I get it, things are upsetting. We aren't winning, it looks like it's the same old story and we all been sold on a bill of goods. But lets not start counting our chickens just yet. They still have time to turn things around. If they play the rest of the season like they've played yesterday we might just grab a spot by the end of the season.

2. You`d think that if they`re going hard after a recruit that they`d want to show their faces at his games as much as possible.
Athletes want to feel "loved".

3. I wouldn`t get to excited being a 1-7 Butler team. Yes I watched the game, now we know who should get the bulk of the minutes.
In the backcourt: Branch, Harrison, and Jordan Frontcourt: GG Sampson, and Sanchez.
Would like a 7 or 8 man rotation.
Finally, I`m glad Green had the flu. they looked much better with him

4. I don`t know what i`m talking about lol ok. I`m not sold on them because they beat SHU, and Butler.
Lets beat Creighton then they`ll have shut me up.

Once again, the not being at one event means they are in fact NOT recruiting at all. Yes, you don't know what you are talking about.

For all the talk about Lavin doing a bad coaching job, this team does some things well.

1. Lead the nation in blocked shots.
2. Among the leaders (#30) in fewest turnovers per game

Gotta give credit where credit is due.

@NYPost_Brazille: St. John's is two-deep for Roselle Catholic's Isaiah Briscoe tonight. Steve Lavin and Tony Chiles there, I'm told. #sjubb

Having watched STJ in person the other night and on TV several times, let me offer another point of view on Lavin. I don't think the team looks poorly coached. Everyone wants to use the standard of zipping the ball around on the perimeter and hitting an open jump shot. OK, they're terrible at that. But they play to their strengths on defense and they stick together. Give the coach some credit for that.

Last night I was about to post how I find it incredible that Lavin has not been put on the hot seat in NYC. I understand the program lost momentum when he was ill but I think he is far enough removed from that to be critiqued. With Seton Hall snatching 2 Lincoln recruits from BK, I think it begs the question of why he isn't landing those types of players. Looking at the team, it seems he is recruiting the best athletes available but not recruiting for team need. There are to many players with similar skillsets.

Terribly disappointing so far, but I'm with NJRedman; let's back away from the ledge. I suppose the Norm Roberts years were so disheartening and dark in my mind that I'm not overly concerned about the program's direction yet. I do worry that Lavin and his staff can't/won't make SJU the #1 spot for local kids (reminds me of Jarvis a little in this regard). SJU rightfully thinks on a national scale but I think a real local foundation is required.

Perhaps more than any other school in the conference, SJU would seemingly have the weakest need to recruit nationally. With all of that talent right in the back yard, recruiting should always be focused there.
